If a person follows the rules of diet according to the Indian 12 months, then his life can be healthy. Indian sages have asked to follow these rules because the digestive power of our body can change according to the season. It is said that more than half of a person’s diseases are related to the stomach. In such a situation, if some rules mentioned in Sanatan Dharma are kept in mind while eating, then many physical problems can be avoided.
In Hinduism, rules have been made from sunrise to sunset. Due to which a person always remains healthy. If all the rules of food are followed, then there is no disease in the life of a person. It is believed in Sanatan Dharma that food eaten with jealousy, fear, anger and greed is never digested. On the other hand, many types of diseases can arise if food is not digested.
According to Sanatan Dharma, food should not be left uneaten. If for any reason, you leave your meal uneaten, you should not sit down to eat it again. This causes indigestion. You should not eat a fruit or sweet fully after eating it halfway. Because half-eaten fruit is considered contaminated. It invites diseases. You must have often heard elders say that you should never talk while eating. By doing this, you do not concentrate on eating which is harmful for health.
Chaitra (March-April) –
In this month the weather starts changing. According to religion and weather, it is necessary to take some precautions in this month. Eat gram in this month because gram purifies your blood circulation and blood and also protects from many diseases. In the month of Chaitra, 4-5 soft neem leaves should also be used daily, by this you can avoid all the defects of this month. By chewing neem leaves, the defects present in the body are removed from the body. It is said that this can help in avoiding infections caused by weather changes. Eating neem leaves with jaggery is beneficial. In this month, one should get up before sunrise and take a bath with cold water and after this, one should eat food only after offering arghya to the rising sun once a day. By doing this, a person remains protected from diseases and his age also increases. In the month of Chaitra, heat starts, so one should avoid eating stale food. In this month, more liquids should be taken in the food and the amount of grains should be reduced. Along with this, one should start wearing light and cotton clothes. Due to increasing heat in the month of Chaitra, laziness also starts increasing in people. In such a situation, to avoid laziness in this month, try to leave the bed early in the morning and start the day with yoga and exercise. By doing this, laziness will be away from both mind and body.
Vaishakh (April – May)-
Summer begins in the month of Vaishakh.wood apple must be used in this month which will keep you healthy. Do not use oil at all in the month of Vaishakh as it can make your body unhealthy. Fried food should also not be eaten. Eating oil and oil-based food is prohibited in the month of Vaishakh. It is believed that if the rules related to food are followed then a person never falls ill. Avoid fried and spicy food in the month of Vaishakh, it can spoil health.
Jyeshtha (May-June) –
The month of Jyeshtha is very hot. Because the rays of the sun fall directly on the earth and in this way the sun absorbs the coolness of nature completely. This month is the hottest in India. Spicy food should not be consumed in the month of Jyeshtha and one should try to eat once a day. Apart from garlic and mustard, hot food should be avoided because this month is the hottest. Eating brinjal should be avoided in this month. Because its consumption is not considered auspicious for children. Include seasonal fruits and green vegetables in your diet in the month of Jyeshtha. Also, Barley and things made from wood apple should be consumed. If possible, include as much liquids (curd, buttermilk, juice etc.) in the diet this month. Because spicy food can make you feel dizzy or nervous. Do not eat stale food, heavy food and hot things. By using these, your body can become diseased.
Ashadh (June-July) –
Rainy season starts from this month. Infection of diseases is highest in this month. From this month, a little moisture starts coming in the atmosphere. In the month of Ashadh, the risk of spreading diseases is very high. This happens due to change in climate. In the month of Ashadh, the risk of water-borne diseases increases a lot. Therefore, consume more clean water and juicy fruits. In the month of Ashadh, use mango, old wheat, barley, rice, cold things, cucumber, bitter gourd,lady finger etc. and even in the month of Ashadh, using things of hot nature can be harmful for your health. Eat less oily things as far as possible. Avoid junk food and also balance the amount of oil and salt in food.
Shravan (July-August) –
You should avoid eating spicy food in the month of Shravan. Not only does it cause heartburn and acidity, but it can also increase blood pressure. Apart from this, you should also avoid consuming foods with high carbs. Eat fruits in the month of Shravan. Eating at least one bowl of fruits daily will not only prevent weakness, but will also keep your body energetic throughout the day. Apple, banana, grapes, pomegranate and papaya are good options. Being rich in fiber, eating these things also keeps your stomach full for a long time. chebulic myrobalan should be used in the month of Shravan. Avoid green vegetables in Shravan and also reduce the use of milk. Eat less quantity of food. Use old rice, old wheat, curd and easily digestible food.
Bhadrapada ,(August-September) –
Eat light and easily digestible food in this month. Due to rainy season, your digestive fire is also slow, so eat easily digestible food. Special care should be taken about food in Bhadra month. The months after Aashadh are also rainy season. In this season, the gastric fire becomes weak and slow. Therefore, the diseases related to vata, pitta and kapha increase. In the rainy season, toxic or poisonous germs are produced in the climate, which spread diseases. These germs also make the fruits and vegetables grown in the field their home. Although milk and curd are not grown in the field, but the germs prevalent in the environment affect them a lot, so avoid or do not eat milk and curd as much as possible.
Ashwin, (September-October) –
Milk, ghee, jaggery, coconut, munnaka, cabbage etc. can be consumed in this month. These are heavy foods but still they are digested in this month because our gastric fire is strong in this month. Consumption of milk is considered forbidden in this month. Also, too much oily food should not be consumed. Consumption of brinjal, radish, lentil, gram etc. is not considered right. Bitter gourd should also not be consumed in this month.
Kartik, (October-November) –
Carrot, brinjal, bottle gourd, bitter gourd and stale food should not be eaten in Kartik month. Fruits which have a lot of seeds should also be avoided. Eating urad, moong, masoor, gram, peas, mustard is also prohibited in the month of Kartik. Non-vegetarian food should not be consumed in the holy month of Kartik. It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in water in the month of Kartik. In such a situation, one should avoid eating fish or any other type of tamasic things even by mistake. Apart from this, sleeping in the afternoon is also prohibited in this month. Kartik month is considered to be the beginning of the winter months. Therefore, we should stop consuming things with cold nature. Jaggery should be eaten daily in the month of Kartik. Jaggery helps in digesting food and also controls blood pressure. Consumption of jaggery also keeps away the problem of cold, cough and flu. Applying oil on the body is also prohibited in this month. In the month of Kartik, consume hot milk, jaggery, ghee, sugar, radish etc. Avoid consuming cold beverages. Do not consume buttermilk, lassi, cold curd, cold fruit juice etc., these can harm your health.
Margashirsha, (November-December) –
Avoid consuming cold or very hot things in this month. Do not eat non-vegetarian food in this month, also avoid consuming cumin.
Paush, (December-January) –
In this season, use milk,and Milk solids products, laddu made of gum, jaggery, sesame, ghee, potato, amla etc., these products will give health to your body. Do not use cold products, old food, moth, bitter and dry food.
Magh (January-February) –
Eating sesame seeds in this month keeps the health good. The nutrients present in sesame seeds keep the body healthy throughout the year. Radish and coriander should not be consumed in this month. Consumption of radish in this month is considered equal to alcohol. According to Ayurveda, the nature of radish is cold and it is full of water. Coriander leaves should not be eaten with radish in the month of Magh. It is considered poison. Consumption of both of these is harmful for health in this month. Eating it can also cause cough, stomach problems, cold and fever. You can also use hot and heavy food in this month. You can use ghee, new grains, laddus of gum etc. Consumption of coarse grains is also good for health in this season. Pure Desi Ghee should also be used in food. Rice and pulses should also be used regularly. Consumption of greens is considered beneficial in this month of Magh. Eating it not only gives energy to the body but also supplies iron and many vitamins.
Phalgun (February-March) –
Use jaggery in this month. Eating sugar candy is prohibited in the month of Magh. Eating gram is prohibited in the month of Phalgun. It is said that consuming it can not only make a person sick but can also cause death. Make it a rule to do yoga and bath in the morning.
