  • If you have kids, you should read this story.

    August 7th, 2024

In today’s era, the number of couples, especially women, who do not want children is increasing. As women are moving out of the confines of their homes and making their careers in different fields, this trend is gaining momentum. But it is true that no matter how busy a woman is, if her family relations are good, she can become a good person to the children. On the other hand, if the married life is not going well, it is better not to have children. Because of such parents, many children are growing up frustrated in today’s time. Such children cannot be expected to take over the reins of the country. Such children cannot stand up as good human beings. Because it is difficult for children to grow up with positive thinking due to fights between parents since childhood, neglectful behavior, and lack of love. Let me tell you a true story. Which happened in my neighborhood a few days ago.

When Nidhi got ready for school at 7:30 in the morning, she quietly went upstairs to her mother’s bedroom. She slowly opened the door and saw that all the things were scattered. She came down to the drawing room.dad was sleeping on the sofa. Coming to her room, she took out fifty rupees from her piggy bank and kept it in her pocket. She picked up her bag and started to leave to catch the school bus when the maid came. She said – “Nidhi , I have made potato paratha, eat it.” Nidhi looked at aunty with disappointed eyes and said – “No aunty, I am not hungry.” The maid forcibly put the tiffin in her bag. Nidhi left for school. The maid started thinking – ‘Poor little girl! She has grown so much in this thirteen year old age due to the daily fights between mom and dad. She has been working with Neha and Naresh for the last ten years. Both are working in high positions in a multinational company. Nidhi is their only daughter. There is no dearth of anything. But both keep fighting with each other all the time.  Naresh has been wanting a divorce from Neha for some time now and wants Neha to take the responsibility of Nidhi and Neha wants a share in the property along with giving the responsibility of Nidhi to Naresh. Due to this, both of them keep fighting. No one wants to take the responsibility of the child. Therefore, both of them use abusive language for each other. Poor Nidhi comes home from school and hides in her room. She only talks to aunty. Like every day, Neha and Naresh had breakfast in their respective rooms and left for the office. At around 12, a call came from the school that reach the hospital quickly as Nidhi is hurt. After reaching the hospital, it was found that Nidhi had fallen from a very high height. She was kept in the ICU. Preparations were being made for the operation.

There was a very deep injury on the head. The operation started. But life lost to death. Neha and Naresh were stunned. They were so shocked that they lost their senses. Nidhi’s grandmother also came. Seeing her son and daughter-in-law, she turned her face away in disgust. There was an inquiry, statements of teachers and students were taken, it was revealed that she fell down due to loss of balance. After completing the thirteenth day ritual, Naresh tried to stop his mother but she said with tears in her eyes- ‘You both’s selfishness and stubbornness ate up my granddaughter. I wanted to take her with you but you both made her a pawn of your ego and took her life. I will not be able to forgive you both’, saying this the mother left.

The maid was in shock since then, but somehow she regained her senses. She told Naresh and Neha that Mam, I will not be able to live here anymore. The walls of this house are filled with the sobs of my Nidhi. I have seen her crying sometimes in my lap and sometimes hiding. At times, I felt like running away with her, but I was a coward and could not do so. If I had left, perhaps she would have been alive today.

Naresh and Neha probably had nothing to say now. As the days passed, their fights had turned into a strange snow. All their emotions had taken a silent form inside. It was a Sunday. With great difficulty Neha had gathered the courage to go to Nidhi’s room. Both of them did not step into her room for months. What kind of parents were they? Her room, her bed, pillow, her books, her pencils, pens, school bag, everything was kept as it was. When they opened the cupboard, her clothes fell down, her light blue night suit which she used to wear often. Neha started taking things out of the cupboard while crying. Then she found a blue colored diary in her hands. She opened it with trembling hands, some of the front pages were torn. Page after page, the story of a broken heart was recorded in small pieces- Mummy Papa, I will not write dear to you. Because dear means lovely. Papa, you call mummy your daughter. And mummy, you call papa your daughter. Why don’t you both say our daughter.

On the next page it was- You know, when I go to my uncle’s house, my uncle and aunt love me a lot. When aunt lovingly calls Anu her child, I feel that am I not a cute child? Mamma, I obey everything you say, yet you never called me a cute child.

On the next page it was written- Mummy, when I go to Bua’s house, Bua loves me a lot. But she cooks food of Naksh’s choice. Mummy, I also like Rajma beans very much. I told you to cook it but you said don’t bother me. Whatever you want to eat, tell aunty. You know Mummy, I have stopped eating Rajma beans. Now I don’t feel like eating it.

Papa I wanted to go with you to eat ice cream but you said that you don’t have time for useless things. Papa when my sister in law and Uncle can take Vipul and me to eat ice cream then why don’t they say that all these are useless things. You know mummy I want to go away from my house where I don’t have to hear that I will not keep Nidhi. Where I don’t hear papa’s shouting. Papa if I were older then I would never have troubled you both, I would have gone away on my own. I love you both very much. Papa mummy why don’t you both love me.

On one page it was written- I love you aunty, for loving me. For making me sleep with you when I am scared. For listening to everything I say. And on the last page it was written- Grandma I love you, please take me away from here, I promise I won’t trouble you anymore.

Neha hugged the diary to her chest and started crying loudly. Naresh also came after hearing her crying. Neha gave him the diary. While turning page after page, the expressions on his face kept changing. He could not control himself and sat down on the ground. Neha said while crying- “Naresh, that was not an accident, it was suicide. Our Nidhi freed us from the relationship which we considered a burden. Naresh, we both killed our daughter.” Naresh started crying bitterly.

This is the story of every household where parents fight in front of the children or the family breaks apart and the children bear the brunt of it. If you cannot give a good upbringing then you have no right to give birth to a child. Good upbringing is not achieved by money or luxuries. It means how close you are to your child at the time of his emotional need.

  • I’d love to be a fairy in an alternate universe

    August 7th, 2024

Describe your life in an alternate universe.

It is impossible to cross the universe. We live on a small piece of earth. In childhood, I used to read fairy tales often. Sometimes, I used to see fairies even in my dreams. It seemed as if they were changing me by touching me with their wands. In all the cultures, art and literature of the world, there are some such mysterious and beyond logic things which we have not seen, but which have been a part of our thoughts and life since eternity. Angels, demons, devils and fairies are included in them. Among them, fairies have given the most flight to our imagination. Coming from some other world with a feminine appearance, flying high on the wings with the power of their magical powers, shy fairies of small stature and infinite beauty have always been an important part of the imagination not only of children but also of adults and writers from all over the world. Fairy means such a supernatural creature which loves children very much.

I think my life in an alternate universe would be like that of a fairy. I would be able to use fairy magic whenever I wanted. Whether it is casting charms or tricking our senses, disappearing, flying, changing shapes, moving objects like buildings. I am going to have a lot of fun doing all of these. I feel great about being in fairyland, helping needy people and getting whatever I want with my magic wand.

  • Spent for the offerings of Jagannath

    August 6th, 2024

What’s the most money you’ve ever spent on a meal? Was it worth it?

There is a deep connection between man and food. There is hardly any person who does not like food. Once we went to Jagannath Puri for darshan. We had a very good darshan and the rule there is that the rice offered there must be taken. That offering is made in the evening and we got late in reaching. We had a train the next day morning, so we were very sad that we did not get the offering to God. Just then a Pandit came and we told him what was on our mind. He said I will take ₹5000. We thought that if we do not take the offering then our coming here will be in vain. We gave him ₹5000. Then he brought rice offering in a small leaf bowl. We were surprised to see it, we gave ₹5000 for so little rice. But then we thought that it does not matter, if we could not get it today then we would have regretted it all our life. Those few rice were very precious for us.

Because it is said that whatever bhog is prepared in the kitchen is done under the supervision of Maa Lakshmi.
The prasad available at any pilgrimage place is generally called prasad, but the prasad available in the Jagannath temple in Orissa is considered ‘Mahaprasad’. In the kitchen of the temple, 7 pots are placed one above the other to cook prasad and everything is cooked on wood. In this process, the ingredients in the top pot get cooked first and then gradually the food gets cooked one after the other towards the bottom, that is, the food in the pot placed on the top gets cooked first. We do not regret paying so much money for the small quantity of rice that we got. Because for Hindus, God’s prasad means a lot.

  • Can sister in law take the place of mother?

    August 5th, 2024

Scour the news for an entirely uninteresting story. Consider how it connects to your life. Write about that.

Whatever happens anywhere in this world, that story is similar to some person or the other. Similarly, I also read a story which is completely related to my life. The story is as follows.

Sona’s sister-in-law had called Sona four times, but Sona was not receiving the call. Later when Sona came out of the kitchen, she saw that her sister-in-law had four missed calls. She got worried seeing this because her sister-in-law knows that if Sona does not pick up the phone in two attempts, it means that she is busy with her work or is away from the phone. Now Sona was feeling nervous because she was tensed after receiving four consecutive calls from sister-in-law. Because Sona’s mother was not well these days. Just two days ago, Sona had come back from meeting her mother at her maternal home, still Sona mustered courage and called her sister-in-law and as soon as she picked up the phone, Sona said crying, siso, Mummy has left us. She slept well at night. In the morning our brother and I tried a lot to wake her up but she did not wake up. Then we called the doctor and he told us that Mummy is no more.  Sister, you come home quickly, on hearing this, tears started flowing from Sona’s eyes.

Her father had already left her and now her mother was also no more. Sona was completely distraught, now Sona told this to her husband Saksham while crying, then Saksham took care of her and quickly put her in the car and took her to her maternal home. As soon as Sona reached her home, on seeing her mother’s dead body, she hugged her and cried a lot. Finally Saksham somehow convinced her and performed the last rites of her mother. Even after all the rituals, Sona was not stopping crying, she was missing her mother a lot, then Sona’s aunt wiped her tears and took care of her and said Sona , don’t be so sad. So what if mom is no more? I am here, your aunt. My house is also your maternal home, whenever you feel like it, come to your aunt.

Daughter, I can understand your pain because your father has already left you and today mom has also left. It is said that after the mother leaves, the girl’s maternal home is left behind. This sister in law is just a nominal relationship to show to the world, because maternal home is with the mother only. Sona also started thinking in her mind that maybe aunt is saying the right thing and she hugged aunt and started crying out loud and said, Aunty, does my maternal home also not exist now? Just then, Sona’s sister in law was sitting far away and listening to their conversation. First she made Sona quiet and then consoled her. Then she said to aunt that, Aunt, how could you say that maternal home is only with the mother.

I believe that nobody can take the place of a mother, but right now Sona’s brother and sister-in-law are alive and as long as we are there sona’s maternal home will always remain. I will try my best to give Sona, the love and respect she gets from her mother. And sona can come here whenever she wants, this house was hers yesterday, is hers today and will remain hers tomorrow too. Aunty, I am also a daughter and this is my maternal home too, and I know very well how important a maternal home is for us daughters. Aunty, you must call sona to your house but don’t keep her away from the love of her brother and sister-in-law. Then Aunty said – Daughter-in-law, in today’s time, a sister-in-law with a thinking like yours is very rare, please forgive me. I showed Sona the wrong path. Then Sona hugged her sister-in-law and said, today you have assured me that a sister-in-law is also like a mother and I am satisfied that as long as you and brother are there, my maternal home will always remain..!!  And someone has said that sister-in-law is like a mother, today you have made me believe this too!!

This story is completely related to my life. I too have faced such a situation. And today my brother and sister-in-law also love me a lot.

  • The secret of my happiness is hidden in small things

    August 4th, 2024

List 30 things that make you happy.

It is important to always be happy in life. There are many people who remain sad throughout the day and many remain sad even after having everything. We try throughout our life to be happy. We think about some things that if we get them, we will get true happiness, but we are proven wrong in this matter. Many times we unnecessarily ignore other true happiness for artificial happiness. Our unlimited desires take even small happiness away from us. No matter what kind of person is there in this world, he gets happiness from something. Similarly, I also get happiness from many things.

    1,,Exercise,,

My routine includes exercise that keeps my heart and mind happy. The routine should include exercises that build flexibility, strength and strengthen the heart muscles.

    2,,The feeling of forgiveness,,

It makes me happy to feel feelings of goodwill, forgiveness, compassion in the universe. The laws of nature always send these back to you. When you do this with genuine intention, you will also experience joy while doing it. It brings a feeling of deep joy.

    3,,Living an ethical life,,

Living an ethical life gives me peace. If someone does not live an ethical life, it is impossible for him to experience lasting happiness.

    4,,Tolerance,,

I believe in accepting events as they occur because lack of acceptance is one of the major causes of depression.

    5. Compassion:

Being compassionate towards others always makes me happy. Ayurveda also emphasizes that the cause of all illness is in the mind. Be compassionate towards every living being, including yourself and especially towards those who have hurt you. Holding on to grudges or anger causes toxicity and over time we become prone to chronic illnesses.

    6. Gratitude:

For me, the feeling of gratitude is the first feeling of the morning and the last feeling of the night. I do not chase the mirage of getting some golden vessel in the future.

    7,,Friend,,

Making friends gives me happiness. Because life is not possible without friends.

    8,, Music,,

Music is my favorite hobby, which makes me forget my sorrows and gives me a new happiness.

    9,,Reading books,,

For me, reading books has always been a way of passing time and giving pleasure to myself. I used to get very angry when I had to memorize small details of the story for the test in school. I like to remember the gist of the story, its characters and the plot of the story. That is why to keep my happiness intact, I have now started reading Kindle.

    10,,Writing poetry,,

I remember when I was in class 8, as soon as I came back from school, I would throw my bag on the ground and go and sit on my terrace. I had kept my favourite chair on my terrace, where I liked to sit the most. I would just go there and listen to all my favourite songs and get lost in them. I would feel them and then write something while sitting there. Gradually I started writing a little better and today I write everything from Shayaris to short stories. Then what, if there is a definition of happiness for me, it is my pen and headphones.

    11. Dance,,

Whenever I feel low, I just play Punjabi songs on the speaker at high volume and dance; half my tension goes away just like that.

    12. Helping the poor,,

Helping the poor makes me happy when I see a child trying hard to sell something and no one is buying his stuff. Then I go to him and help him by buying some stuff from him, which makes me happy. It may seem wrong in people’s eyes to buy stuff from a child and ask him to do labour work but I don’t believe so.

    13,,Cooking,,

Cooking and eating my favourite dishes gives me a feeling of happiness and fulfilment.

    14. Travelling,,

Travelling to new places makes me happy and instills in me the enthusiasm to do my work again.

    15,,Buying new clothes,

Buying new clothes fills me with happiness since childhood. I love buying clothes.

    16,,Beaches,

when I am with my family, spending time with them. Or when I am looking at the blue sky or watching and listening to the waves on the beach or just walking, I feel very happy.

    17,,Watching movies,,

Laughing with family while watching a silly movie makes me happy.

    18,,Finding a solution to a problem,,

When I find a solution to a complex thing, I feel happy. It gives me immense happiness and my mind becomes cheerful.

    19. chanting and singing bhajans,

chanting and singing bhajans gives me peace and after that I feel light.

    20,,Getting a massage,,

I like getting a massage very much. When I am very tired, I feel happy after getting it done.

    21,, Going to the temple,,

Going to the temple is my daily routine, and it gives me a new energy and happiness.

    22.eating ice cream,,

I like eating ice cream very much. And eating tender coconut in that too gives me immense happiness.

    23. Celebrating festivals.

I like celebrating festivals very much. And I celebrate every festival with full enthusiasm.

    24,, Playing with pet dog,

Playing with pet dog gives me great happiness.

    25,,Bathing in the rain,,

I have liked bathing in the rain since my childhood. Even today I feel happy seeing heavy rain.

    26,, long drive,,

Going on long drives and listening to loud music makes me happy.

    27,, Watching Mr Bean serial,

Watching Mr Bean serial fills me with happiness.

    28. meeting my family members,,

I like meeting my family members because it helps us stay together.

    29,,Watching the rainbow,,

Watching the rainbow makes me happy. And I can watch it for hours.

    30,, Writing blogs,,

Writing blogs gives me happiness, but when I get more likes then I feel happy.🙏

  • Who were the eight friends of Radha Rani and what did they do?

    August 3rd, 2024

The Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month is the Prakatotsav of Shreeji Radharani. Shree Radharani was born in Barsana to Gop Vrishbhanu and Gopi Kirtida. It is said in Braj that the grace of Lord Krishna and residence in Shreedham Vrindavan is not possible without the compassion of Shreeji Radharani. Like the friends of Yogeshwar Lord Krishna, Shree Radharani also had many friends. They are called Sakhi, Nitya sakhi, Pranasakhi and Priyasakhi, but apart from these Shreeji Radharani had eight friends who were famous by the name of “Asht sakhi”. Radha Rani is the dear one of Lord Krishna. She is the presiding goddess of Braj Mandal. No one can enter Braj without her grace. The one on whom Radha Rani showers her grace reaches Braj even if he does not want to. All the gopis are her physical form. All have appeared from her radiance.

    Who were Radha’s eight friends?

Radha Rani’s closest friends were Lalita Devi, Vishakha, Chitra, Indulekha, Champakalata, Rangadevi, Tungavidya and Sudevi. All of them were endowed with special qualities. These eight friends were proficient in many arts. They had deep knowledge of music and the secrets of nature. Lalita sakhi was prominent among them.

    Who was Lalita Sakhi?

Tansen’s Guru Swami Haridas Ji is considered to be the reincarnation of Lalita Sakhi. Once Radha Ji became happy and started thinking that if I had a friend like me, I would play with her. As soon as she thought so, a friend appeared from her body who became Lalita Ji, she is her intimate friend. It is said about Lalita Devi that she used to wear a peacock feather coloured saree. Lalita had special understanding and knowledge of fragrance. She used to give betel leaf to Radha. This is a daily service and every Gopi does her service with great concentration. The purpose of Gopi’s life is one. There was no entry in Raas without Lalita Ji’s permission. When Raas Leela started, there were crores of friends, they were saints of previous births, verses of Vedas. Who had asked God to accompany them. So when Raas starts, not everyone was allowed to enter it. Men were not allowed.  Lalita ji was standing at the door, no one could enter without Lalita ji’s permission. When Lord Shiva came, Lalita ji refused. Then Lord Shiva said – Krishna is our idol. Lalita ji said – no one other than Krishna can enter here in Braj. Shiv ji said – what should I do? Then Lalita ji made him wear the gopi’s makeup, put choli, ear flowers in the ears, and veil. Gave the couple mantra in the ears. Then the entry was done. In this way Lalita ji became the Guru of Shiv ji because she preached the couple mantra. These friends are no ordinary. Big sages, munis worship them daily. Such are the divine and supernatural gopis and the ‘gop bhaav’ is very high. Lalita ji’s body is of yellow color with redness like Gaurochan. Lalita ji wears “peacock feather” Kranti clothes.  Her parents’ names are Vishok and Sharda. She was married to a gopa named Bhairava.

    Vishakha,,

Vishakha ,Radha’s second friend’s name was Vishakha. Vishakha was very beautiful and her radiance was like that of a Saudamini. This friend was fair-skinned. This friend of Shreeji used to make Thakur ji laugh by telling him beautiful jokes. This friend used to apply sandalwood paste made from fragrant substances. She used to present items made from camphor and sandalwood to Radha. She was skilled in making beautiful clothes.

    Chitra,,

Chitra is Radha’s third favorite friend. Chitra’s body glowed like saffron. Chitra wore a beautiful kachvarn sari. She used to do Radha’s makeup. It is said about Chitra that she could understand Radha’s words through gestures. This friend was Radha Rani’s most beloved friend. She lived in Chikasoli village in Barsana. When Thakur ji used to wake up at 4 o’clock, this friend used to stand with fruits, sherbet, dry fruits.

    Indulekha,,

Indulekha was Radha’s fourth dear friend. She used to wear a red coloured sari. It is said about her that she was always happy and always had a smile on her face. She was skilled in dance and singing. This friend was very intelligent. She lived in Sunhara village. She could tell anyone’s future by looking at their palm lines. She used to tell love stories.

    Sudevi,,

Sudevi was very beautiful. She was the youngest friend. She was very clever and a dear friend. She lived in Sunhara village. She used to serve water to Thakur ji. She used to wear coral coloured saree and used to serve water to Radha. She had the knowledge of purifying and cleansing water.

    Tungavidya,,

Tungavidya,, used to wear yellow coloured saree and her intellect was very sharp. This friend of Shri Radharani Ji smells like camphor with sandalwood. She sings and dances in the court of Yugalvar. She is adept in playing Veena. She is the incarnation of Gauri Maa Parvati. She was famous for her intelligence. She had a special understanding of fine arts. She was also adept in music.

    Ragandevi Sakhi ,,

Ragandevi Sakhi ,,She is very soft and beautiful. She applies kajal to Radha Rani’s eyes and adorns her. Her age is 14 years, 2 months and 4 days.

    Champakalata Sakhi,,

Champakalata Sakhi, this Sakhi loves Lord Thakur very much. She lives in Karhala village. Her complexion is like that of a flower. She serves in the kitchen of Lord Thakur.

These eight friends of Radharani are called “Ashtsakhi”. The temple of these Ashtasakhis is also located in Shridham Vrindavan.

  • My best habit is not to compare myself to others

    August 3rd, 2024

Describe one habit that brings you joy.

Whatever we do in life, we do it to find happiness, but unfortunately being happy seems to be a very difficult task. We think that to be happy there should be certain conditions, only then we can be happy. But it is not so. Every person has some habits that can make him feel happy in himself. When we were children, we were happy by default. The source of happiness is within us, we can make it a living experience forever.

I also have a habit that always makes me feel happy. That is not to compare myself with others. In my childhood, when I used to insist on buying something after seeing it from others, my parents used to teach me that not everyone can have everything. That is why I have now developed this habit that I have learned to be happy with whatever I have. When I see others being sad, I think that this habit of mine is no less than a gift for me.

We always feel that our own qualities are less in comparison to the qualities of others. We feel jealous of the other person or his successes under the influence of the other person and many people change this habit considering it as their weakness. People always keep comparing themselves with others. This process is not from today but has been going on for centuries. People think that if others have something then you should also have it. If someone else’s house is big then you should also have a big house. But is this comparison pleasant? If you are getting inspiration from any comparison then it can be right. But if you look at this comparison in a wrong way then you will always consider yourself less and smaller than others. This increases negativity in your mind. According to an old saying, “Be sad at the happiness of others instead of being sad at your own sorrow.” In such a situation, your achievements always seem less than others and that is why you start considering yourself inferior.

I have a very big circle of friends, but I consider myself my best friend. No one can be a better friend than yourself because you know what is right and what is wrong for you. When you compare yourself with yourself, you never get disappointed and it also inspires you to become better than before. That is why you should spend some time with yourself. Only then will you know how good a person you are.

  • I am eager to bring a change in society

    August 2nd, 2024

    What are you curious about?

Every person has a desire to do something or the other. But if the curiosity in the mind is given dimension, then one day the person can achieve something. I am eager to bring about a change in my society. The world is developing but Indian society is still stuck in bad customs. Many such evils have taken birth in the society, which if not resolved in time, will leave a big stain on the nation. For this, people of every section of the society need to come forward.

There should be change in society, but the kind of change that is happening is worrisome. It is said that change is life. If there is no change in the country, society and the surrounding environment, then a person will get bored very soon. It is not possible to eat the same thing every day, no matter how delicious it is. Even a person who wears the same colour and shape of clothes all the time is looked at with strange eyes. Change can be good as well as bad. I experienced how the environment has changed in the gap of one generation, when I met a close friend of mine a few days ago. He has a small business. Two daughters, a son; wife and father. His mother had died a few years ago. After that, keeping in mind the future of his children, he left his village and came to Delhi. He bought a big house in the village and a three-room flat in Delhi. His elder daughter is doing MA and the second one is doing BA. He was worried about the marriage of his elder daughter. Everywhere the car would get stuck on questions like how much cash, how much goods and what kind of hospitality would be given to the wedding procession.  He also wanted my help in finding a good family where the matter could be settled in less money.

During the conversation, we started discussing the changes taking place in society. Today, wherever he talks about his daughter’s marriage, it is said that at least two lakhs in cash, one lakh worth of goods and one-and-a-half lakhs should be spent on the hospitality of the wedding procession. That means five lakhs rupees are required for getting a daughter married. He was worried about this arrangement. He had two-two and a half lakhs rupees; but what could be done with that amount? His hair was flying in this worry. He was cursing this change taking place in society.

My mind started spinning. Are the changes in society taking place only in the wrong direction?

I looked at my family and the families of my close relatives. Nowhere there are less than four children; but when I looked at the next generation, I noticed that this number is nowhere more than two. And on thinking, I realized that along with Hindus, there is some change in this area in the Muslim society as well. Where their older generation used to have eight to ten children, today’s Muslims have come down to four to five. They have also started paying attention to educating their children and cleanliness. Earlier they were satisfied by educating their children in madrasas for four to six years, now when they are capable, they have started sending them to good schools. Although Muslim girls are still rarely seen there; but they have also started coming in large numbers to the schools located in the Muslim colony. Similarly, awareness has also come in the poor section of the society. But I want it to move a little further. Because when you educate a man, you educate a man. When you educate a woman, you educate a generation.

India is a country rich in tradition and cultural values, where women have a prominent place in the society. There is a large population of women in the rural scenario. Unfortunately, during the foreign rule, many evils and distortions arose in the society, which led to oppression of women.

After independence, the respect of women increased in the society, but the pace of their empowerment remained slow for decades. Poverty and illiteracy have been a serious obstacle in the progress of women. Women can be strengthened economically by encouraging them towards business through quality education and skills. Social and financial empowerment of women can be started especially with the help of agro-processing industries, banking services and digitalization.

Indian women are full of energy, vision, lively enthusiasm and commitment and are capable of facing all challenges. In the words of India’s first Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore, for us women are not only the light of the house, but also the flame of this light. Women have been a source of inspiration for humanity since time immemorial.  From Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi to Savitribai Phule, India’s first female teacher, women have set great examples of change in the society at large.

Our culture is our heritage, we have to preserve it. In the last few years, due to the race of modernity and nuclear families, we are getting away from our culture. But in the meantime, the pleasant aspect is that in this fast paced life of modernity, special work is being done by various social organization to connect the new generation with our traditional culture and to make them aware of the importance of festivals. This is an effort to take our culture and civilization forward along with maintaining our customs.

Before taking the society towards positivity, we have to improve our own conduct. Positive thinking is the biggest strength of the society. At present, negativity is increasing in the society. To stop this, positive people will have to unite and run a campaign. We have to follow the teachings and ideas given by great men. We have to start this from ourselves. At the same time, we have to give up the evils and some bad practices spread in the society. The youth have to be made aware about prevention from drug addiction. Our great men are our heritage. We have to follow the teachings given by the great men. We have to create a society that distributes sweets in our homes on the happiness of others. For this, casteist mentality has to be overcome and social brotherhood has to be strengthened. To create a positive environment in the society, first of all we have to start from ourselves. After this, we have to unite our home, family and our village. Only then will our goal be accomplished. We have to become active by forming an organization of positive people. Our parents have brought us here by keeping a positive thinking. At that time the family environment used to be positive and strong. In the present time, due to single families, the values have diminished.  Now there is a need to follow the footsteps of elders and great men. I hope that the curiosity in my mind will definitely be fulfilled.

  • How should a birthday be celebrated?

    August 1st, 2024

In ancient times, there was a tradition of celebrating birthday as a ritual. Following rituals not only builds personality but also paves the way for a happy life. According to Hindu tradition, the person whose birthday it is, goes to the temple with his friends and family and lights a lamp in front of God and does collective worship and Aarti and wishes for a bright future. The way happiness is celebrated on the birth of God, similar happiness is also celebrated. According to Vedic tradition, lamps should be lit on the auspicious occasion of birthday so that the future life remains auspicious. The number of years of age completed should be the same number of lamps lit in front of God, this protects from evils throughout the year. It is believed that on the birthday, one more year of life has passed which will never be returned, so the same number of candles are lit and extinguished, but in Hindu tradition, lamps are lit on the auspicious occasion of birthday to wish for long life.

Use of sesame seeds on birthday increases life span. Take bath with water containing sesame seeds and Ganga water, donate things made of sesame seeds and eat.

On birthday, offering prasad in temple, food, clothes etc. to orphanages and poor needy people brings blessings.

On birthday, get worship done by a learned person; good wishes through Vedic mantras like Swasti Vachan etc. protects from calamities throughout the year. After worship etc., feed Brahmins and donate as much as you can. According to learned people, on the auspicious occasion of birthday, worship of Shasthi Devi has special importance; worshipping her brings good fortune.

In the birth chart or yearly horoscope, whatever malefic planet or its condition is there, its special worship, donation and pacification should be done through homa. To avoid the inauspicious results of malefic planets in birth or yearly horoscope, it is auspicious to get the chanting and donation of Surya, Mangal etc. done by yourself or by a qualified Brahmin.

According to Indian culture, the right way to celebrate birthday is to start the morning with blessings and worship of elders. It is believed that worshipping fire and lighting fire during auspicious occasions drives away negative energies and evil forces. Lighting fire inculcates Satvik qualities in a person. Also, evil eye and fierce anger are pacified due to the effect of fire. This is the reason that in earlier times, according to Indian civilization, it was a custom to light a lamp before God on the birthday. This would give positivity to the person, God’s blessings would also remain and according to astrology, the planets would also remain calm and happy.

At the same time, now there is a trend of extinguishing candles which is wrong and inauspicious according to astrology. Burning a candle ignites a fire. In such a situation, extinguishing that fire means promoting negative energy and also disturbing the planets. Birthday should always be celebrated at sunrise instead of at night. After sunrise, one should take a bath and offer water to the Sun God. Birthday must be celebrated as per the Hindu calendar, on the date of birth, one should drink milk with sesame seeds from the mother’s hand. Nutritious food items should be eaten on this day. Birthday is a festival in itself. By celebrating it happily, you can make the coming years happy.

  • I didn’t help anyone, I paid off my debt

    August 1st, 2024

Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.

Helping is very important in human life. Helping reveals a person’s humility and his values. Helping gives a person ultimate happiness. When we help someone, we feel happy. Perhaps we do not know that we too may have to take help from someone someday. We do not think that when someone asks us for help and we refuse, how bad he must feel? In life, the process of giving and receiving continues continuously and at many levels. The circle of those who help keeps forming and growing by holding hands from one person to another, from another to the third. When needed, sometimes we get help from those whom we help, and sometimes the hands that help are from others.

One day I was going to the market and I saw a small boy walking barefoot in the sun carrying a bundle weighing 8-10 kg on his head. I stopped him and asked him where he was going barefoot and what was in the bundle. The boy said that his mother was ill and his father was not there. There was some rice in his bundle which he had bought from the market. But that small child was unable to carry the load. That is why his voice became tearful. I put the children in my car and went to drop him home. I saw that his mother was lying on a cot in the hut. On seeing me, his mother got scared thinking that maybe her child had done something wrong. She started looking at her children with wide eyes, as if asking them why this woman had come with them. Then the child told his mother that he was unable to carry the load, so this aunty had helped him. The woman was telling her child to at least give them water.  But I made an excuse of urgent work, gave some money to his mother and went away from there. I had helped that child a little. But even today I sometimes meet that child on the road. And he starts smiling as soon as he sees me. Even today, whenever I meet that child, I do not forget to give him some money. His smile helps me forget my thousands of sorrows.

Sometimes we accidentally do such good deeds which we have never even thought of. But do you know that good deeds cannot be done without God’s help.We are able to help someone only when the time comes to repay the debt of our past life.  Sometimes we cannot help anyone even if we want to. And sometimes we unknowingly do something that brings a smile on someone’s face. It is said that wise people have two hands. One hand to help themselves and the other to help others. And this wisdom comes when we understand that helping others is also good for us. Not only are the needs of others fulfilled, but there is no shortage for us too. So help others. Not because it is a virtuous act. Not even out of fear that someday you may need the help of others. Help because it is good for you too. Helping is good for your own mental health. The mind gets that happiness and peace which is not available even with medicines and therapy. But never let this pride come to your mind that I helped someone. Rather think that I did not help anyone, God helped me. Because you do not know which birth’s debt you have paid.
