We have no control over the untoward incidents in our lives. Everyone’s death is determined. Everyone’s birth is determined. Which we cannot reverse. God has not given us any knowledge to know all these things. No one can tell when he will die. Nor is there any fixed time of birth. God’s secret behind this is also that we can live our life happily. If we come to know when we are going to die, then perhaps we will not be able to live in peace even for a moment. And no matter how much we participate, it is certain.
Now all the time in the mind of the Pandit, it started roaming that how hanging would be the cause of his death. The pundit was very learned. And the king of the state in which he lived also respected him a lot. He took his problem and went to the palace. After going there, he told his story in front of the ministers and the king. Then everyone thought that if the pundit is saying this, then it will not be a lie. But if this pundit does not go to another state then how will he die. Thinking of this, Rajani ordered Pandit to stay in Raj Mahal only. Pandit Raj started living in the palace and he did not come out anywhere. Slowly the time of his death was drawing near. On the day he was to die, he fell asleep very early. He was feeling that this night would pass no matter what. Pandit was not able to sleep. After staying awake till late night, Pandit fell into a deep sleep for a while. When the Pandit used to have a very deep sleep, he used to walk in his sleep, he did not know about it. Even at night he woke up and started walking in his sleep, while walking he came outside the village, he did not even know. While walking, he reached the Raj Mahal of another state. After reaching there, hurriedly entered a room and went to bed and fell asleep.
Once upon a time there lived a pundit in a small village, he was very knowledgeable. One day Pandit was going to meet his childhood friend who was dumb and handicapped. The village of Pandit’s friend was very far away. That’s why the Pandit left his village early in the morning. He walked alone for some distance, but a man went ahead and joined him. Pandit thought that we were going alone, it is better that someone is walking with me. The pundit made it a point to talk to the man. First of all the pundit asked his name. So that man told his name as Mahakal. His name seemed strange to the Pandit, yet the Pandit did not hang up and ask. After walking a little distance, Mahakal told the Pandit that I will stay in this village for a while, I have work here, you go ahead. The pundit was on his way when suddenly he got the news that a bull had killed a man in the village where Mahakal had stayed. Still the pundit kept moving forward and after a while Mahakal came again. Now both started moving forward, it was getting evening, still Pandit’s friend’s village was far away. While walking, the Pandit saw a temple and thought to rest here tonight because he was very tired. Mahakal said okay you take rest. I have some work in this village, I come back after completing my work. As soon as Mahakal left Pandit, there was a lot of smoke rising from the side of the village and in no time the whole village got burnt. The pundit came to know that there is definitely something in this man, wherever he goes, something or the other happens. Even when Mahakal returned, the priest did not discuss this with him. As soon as the morning broke, both of them again proceeded towards their destination.
This time the Pandit could not help it, so the Pandit asked him. Pandit asked, although I have a lot of doubt in my mind for you, but still I ask you one thing, who are you? After listening to Pandit, Mahakal said, you are so knowledgeable, you must have understood who I am. I am the messenger of Yamraj. As per the order of Yamraj, I have come to take the person whose days are over. Pandit got very nervous after listening to Mahakal. Pandit asked if you are Yamdoot then you tell whose death is next. Then Mahakal said that the next death is that of your friend whom you are going to meet and you will also be the reason for his death. Pandit was very sad to hear about Mahakal. The pundit started thinking that this Mahakal must be telling the truth. If I go to meet my friend and he dies, nothing will hurt me more than this. It is better that I do not go to meet him. After listening to Pandit, Mahakal said, look, your friend’s death is certain, it will happen, it doesn’t matter whether you go or not. Even then the Pandit’s mind did not agree and he started turning back towards his village. Not only this, he saw that his friend was walking towards him. The pundit was surprised to see his friend. His friend was quickly walking towards him. As soon as the friend reached him, he fell in front of the Pandit. And the birds flew away from his life. Pandit was looking towards Mahakal, Mahakal understood that Pandit has some question in his mind. Mahakal said, Pandit your friend was following you, he was unable to walk very fast due to Ganga and being lame. To meet you, he put all the force of his body. He was following you and could not even speak, that’s why he could not call you. He has suffered a heart attack because of walking so fast, so now tell me, are you the reason for this or not?
Pandit was very knowledgeable, he knew that one day everyone has to die. That’s why he didn’t think about Mahakal. But he started asking Mahakal that why were you walking with me when my friend was about to die. Then Mahakal said, I walk with everyone but people do not understand. Because people are so engrossed in their problems that they do not have time to understand all this. After listening to Mahakal, Pandit started asking, now tell me when will I die? After listening to Pandit, Mahakal said that you will die after 6 months due to hanging in some other state. And you will gladly accept his execution. Saying this, Mahakal went away.
In the morning, when her maid came to wake up the queen, she saw that the priest was sleeping on the queen’s bed. He woke up the queen and asked how he came. The queen herself did not know, so she also got into thinking. There was hue and cry in the Raj Mahal. By then the pundit had woken up. The soldiers surrounded him and he could not understand how he got here. When he was presented before Maharaj, the pundit said, Maharaj, I do not know at all how I reached here. I had not gone out of my king’s palace for 6 months. Because today I was to die. Then the king said how do you know that you were to die today. With this question of the king, the pundit told the whole story to the king. Still the king thought that he was fabricating the whole story to escape his death. The king asked the pundit for proof whether he was true or false. Then the pundit said, Maharaj, send the courtiers to find out about this in another state. Maharaj sent some men to find out about this. Then the men came and told that the words of Pandit are true. The king of another state also told that the pundit is absolutely innocent, it is not right to punish him. Then the king got confused whether to kill the Pandit or leave him. The king started discussing with his ministers, then the ministers said, put such a thin string around Maharaj Pandit’s neck, which will not kill him and the execution you have promised will also remain. In the Raj Darbar, a noose was made for the Pandit with a very thin thread. So that he doesn’t die. The pundit was also happy to see that I would not die because of this. And the pundit happily went to hang himself. When Pandit Pandit’s neck got cold, due to very thin thread, one of his veins got cut. As told by Mahakal, Pandit happily accepted the noose and due to cutting of the vein, he fell on the ground and died in agony. Everyone in the Raj Darbar started looking at the Pandit with surprise as to how he died with such a thin thread. But Pandit had to die today itself, so he died.
It is written in the Gita that God says that whatever has to happen, it will happen. No matter how much you try.
