  • He who cannot see can see everything

    July 31st, 2024

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

Communication has developed a lot in the world to talk to people sitting far away. There was a time when we used to imagine that if only we could see the photo of the person we are talking to on our mobile. Science has now made this possible. But for those who cannot see, the situation is still the same. Sometimes such a situation arises that we have to tell about ourselves to someone who cannot see us. Something similar happened to me a few days ago when my grandmother wanted to talk to me. She has become very old. Now she can see very little with her eyes but she can hear a little with her ears. So I used such methods to talk to her.

I put the phone on speaker mode. And now I started asking my grandmother about her well being. She also asked about me and I told her that I am absolutely fine. When I saw that she was able to hear me, I made a video call. Now I could see her face clearly. She also tried to look at me and she was very happy to see my face.

My maternal grandmother lived in a village near mine. After a few days, I felt like going to meet her. And one day when I went to meet her, she became so happy that she held my hand in hers. My touch brought tears to her eyes. She held my hand after a long time. That warmth of love told the whole story. The trembling of her old wrinkled hands was making me restless. My maternal grandmother was becoming uncontrollable with happiness after getting the fragrance of my body.I did not need to tell anyone about my condition. Her experienced eyes and mind had read everything, whether I was happy in my world or not.

After that day, I understood that to know and understand someone, one does not need only eyes. If a person wants, he can sense the expressions of the outside world with his inner eyes. because He who cannot see can see everything.

  • Salutations to the eternal tradition

    July 30th, 2024

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

Everything changes with time but some of those changes are beneficial and some are harmful. Sanatan Dharma is full of traditions. Our ancestors always used to tell us that we should do this and that. Some of those traditions have become a part of our daily life even today. Like getting up in the morning and leaving the bed only after taking the name of God, worshipping God daily and offering Prasad, keeping fasts according to religion, obeying the husband, etc. There are many such things which Indian women are following even today. But there are some traditions which our parents used to follow and we are not able to do.

Touching the feet of elders every morning. In childhood, our parents used to tell us that touching the feet of elders brings blessings. Our school bus used to come but we could not go to school without performing this daily routine. After marriage, when I came to my in-laws’ house, I touched the feet of elders every day for a few days. After that, due to the confusion of life, I gave up this tradition.

Brushing our teeth with Neem: In childhood our grandmothers used to teach us that we should brush our teeth with Neem. Now it is popular only in a few villages to break the bark or stick of Neem and clean the teeth with it. Sometimes teeth were also cleaned by mixing salt in 4 drops of mustard oil. The advantage of doing both these daily rituals was that while it kept the teeth and intestines clean and strong, it had other astrological benefits too. Scientists say that because of strong teeth and gums, your eyes, ears and brain also remain healthy. But today, it has been replaced by toothpaste.

Paying obeisance to the rising sun every day,, I remember in my childhood when my mother used to wake us up for school and she used to say, look the sun has also risen. Get up and first of all pay obeisance to the sun. Mother used to say that when the rays of the sun fall on our body then it brings with it many skin benefits. In Hindu religion, the sun is considered a god. Today’s life is different, staying up late at night and getting up late in the morning has become a routine for today’s generation. Even though we know that this is wrong, we cannot stop ourselves. Late night parties were not a tradition of Hindu religion. In Sanatan Dharma, even eating after sunset is prohibited.

Applying kajal or surma in eyes daily, in childhood our mothers and grandmothers used to apply kajal or surma in our eyes daily. And also a black mark on the forehead. Surma is of two types- one white and the other black. Kajal is made from black surma. Applying surma has been prevalent in Central Asia as well as in India. Both types of surma are basically found in the form of stone. Gems are also made from it and kajal is also made from it. Sometimes, while applying surma cures all the diseases of the eyes, some people also use it for Vashikaran. There are many miraculous benefits of wearing its gem. While applying surma saves a person from the evil eye, his eyes also remain healthy. We still apply kajal but only when we have to get ready to go somewhere.

Applying Vermilion in the parting of hair every day, when I got married my mother had said that daughter apply Vermilion in the parting of hair every day. And when I came to my in-laws house my mother in law also said the same. According to Hindu tradition applying Vermilion in the parting of hair increases the lifespan of the husband. But the scientific reason behind this is that Vermilion keeps our head cool. I followed this tradition for a few years. But now according to the changing fashion I have given up this tradition.

Watering the Peepal tree every morning: In childhood we were taught that we should water the Peepal tree daily. Because the Peepal tree produces the maximum amount of oxygen. While other trees and plants emit carbon dioxide gas at night, the Peepal tree releases a lot of oxygen even at night. This is why the elders have laid special emphasis on its conservation. In olden times, people used to forbid going near the Peepal tree at night. According to them, evil spirits reside in the Peepal tree, while the truth is that due to excess of oxygen, the person feels suffocated. The people of the house near which there is a Peepal tree, remain healthy.

Consumption of Tulsi and Panchamrit, when our mother used to worship, she used to give Tulsi and Panchamrit to all of us children. I also worship God today, but life has become so hectic that I do not have time for all these things. Mother used to say that Tulsi and Panchamrit should be consumed every day, that is why there used to be a Tulsi plant in the courtyard of ancient houses. Although even today it can be found in many people’s homes, but people consume it less. They offer Tulsi to God, while keep its leaves in a copper vessel and after a few hours drink that water and eat the Tulsi leaves. By doing this, there will never be cancer in life nor any other disease. Tulsi plant is an antibiotic medicine. Its consumption increases the immunity of the body, diseases go away and the balance of body fluids remains. Apart from this, if there is a Tulsi plant in the house, then there is no danger of mosquitoes, flies, snakes etc. Even today, whenever there is a cold and cough, I make a decoction of Tulsi and honey and give it to the children.

There are thousands of traditions in Sanatan Dharma which are difficult to maintain in today’s life. There are many traditions which we know are beneficial. But in today’s fast-paced life, these have been left behind. But I can say with confidence that All this has scientific benefits too.Salutations to the eternal tradition.

  • What is the scientific reason for less consumption of onion and garlic?

    July 29th, 2024

Some people like to eat food without garlic and onion. Whereas, some do not eat food without garlic and onion. However, this is just a matter of taste and liking. But according to Sanatan Dharma, garlic and onion should not be consumed in food after any fast or special worship. If you want to get the full benefit of fasting and worship, then you should avoid consuming it. Tamasic food is not consumed during any fast or worship. It is said that onion and garlic are related to the cruel planet Rahu. In such a situation, there are five such dates in a month, when the blessings of the gods can be obtained by not consuming onion and garlic. Let’s know.

Why should we not eat onion and garlic in the month of Savan?

Actually, monsoon starts in the month of Sawan, which brings many diseases with it. During this time, our immune system slows down due to which the body easily falls prey to diseases. Garlic and onion are hot in nature, which works to generate heat in the body, so both of these are prohibited to be used in food in the month of Sawan. According to Ayurveda, garlic and onion are a medicine which is consumed to improve the body. But people include it in the daily diet, which causes harm instead of benefit. Ayurveda does not recommend including garlic and onion in the diet regularly because its excessive consumption also kills the good bacteria formed in the body. Onion and garlic are very hot which generate heat in the body. Therefore, people who meditate etc. do not consume it. Its consumption also increases anger and anxiety. According to Ayurveda, not eating onion and garlic can benefit your body in many ways.  Actually, both onion and garlic come under the category of rajasic food due to their characteristics like pungent smell. Rajasic food awakens rajasic quality, which increases anger, jealousy, pride, desire for publicity, self-centeredness and desire for worldly pleasures in the mind. Apart from this, it belongs to the Allium family and is very rich in phenolic phytochemicals, which act as androgenic, i.e. sexual stimulants in the body. According to Ayurveda, both of these i.e. onion and garlic are used to increase sexual power and overcome infertility. Eating them directly stimulates the central nervous system. By giving up onion and garlic for a month, your body goes into detoxification mode and then it uses more of the fat and energy stored in the body. In a way, it works as a scrubbing and cleansing for the body. This keeps obesity, sugar and stomach problems under control.  Apart from this, it also changes your thinking, you become calm and you feel better. When there is a change in the season, some changes should also be made in the diet.Actually, in the rainy season we need special nutrition to increase the immunity of the body and to remain free from diseases. Actually, garlic and onion have been placed in the category of Tamasik food. Because it is considered hot. It is said that eating these two things causes up and down of blood circulation. This leads to anger, ego, excitement, laziness and many other things. Therefore, garlic and onion are prohibited first of all in worship. It is also prohibited in the rainy season so that the stomach does not become hot and if there is a disturbance in the stomach, then health will be bad. Therefore, it is often forbidden to eat it during changing weather, rainy season or monsoon.

On which days should you not eat onion and garlic?

According to religious texts, Amavasya date is related to ancestors. On this day Pind Daan, Shradh of ancestors are performed. On this day onion-garlic should not be consumed. Poornima date is on the last day of every month. Hence, this day is also considered to be of special importance. On this day Poornima is considered to be related to the moon. Hence, on this day one should avoid eating onion-garlic. Ekadashi date is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Fast is observed on this day. This is the reason why onion and garlic should not be eaten at all on this day. Also avoid non-vegetarian food on this day. Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated twice every month. On this day Ganesh is worshipped. On this day also do not consume garlic-onion in the food. Pradosh fast is observed on Trayodashi date of every month. Lord Shiva is worshipped on this day. Some people also observe fast on this day. Hence, on this day consumption of garlic and onion is prohibited.

  • Today was a normal day by God’s grace

    July 29th, 2024

    Was today typical?

Days, months and years are passing by like this. Some of these days bring a lot of happiness and sadness for us. But sometimes normal days pass by doing our daily chores. But we should always keep ourselves prepared to deal with all this.

Today was a very normal day for me. Like every day, I woke up in the morning, completed my daily chores and then went to sleep again. Because today is Sunday. Today, husband and children are all at home. We all had our early dinner and watched a good movie. We had our early dinner today because we have brunch on Sundays. And after that, we started playing indoor games. Me and my husband love to play badminton. Also, my children play badminton. It was very hot today so we were not in the mood to go out anywhere. After playing, we all took bath and then sat in front of the TV and had dinner together. And then like every day, I thanked God for today. And now after writing the prompt, I will go to sleep.good night.

  • Is there any scientific importance of Hariyali Teej?

    July 28th, 2024

Hariyali Teej is also mainly a festival of women. Hariyali Teej, which encompasses the colors of lush nature and love, is a fast observed for unbroken good fortune and the well-being of the family. The festival of Hariyali Teej falls in the month of Sawan, which is considered to be a very holy month for worshiping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and fasting dedicated to them. The festival of Hariyali Teej is a symbol of the reunion of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. On this day, married women worship Goddess Parvati and pray for a happy married life. Hariyali Teej is usually celebrated two days before Nag Panchami i.e. on Shukla Paksha Tritiya of Shravan month. This festival is celebrated to commemorate the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to legend, this is the day when the Goddess accepted Parvati as her wife after spending 107 births in Shiva’s penance.

Hariyali Teej, also known as Sindhara Teej, Chhoti Teej, Shravan Teej or Sawan Teej, falls on the third day of the new moon of the month of Shravan. On the day of Hartalika Teej, married women observe a fast for the long life of their husbands. This fast is also observed for a happy married life and to get children. This fast is also observed by unmarried girls to get a suitable groom. On the day of Teej, married women observe a waterless fast and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with 16 adornments. By observing this fast, married women get the blessing of always being fortunate. This fast is considered important for the long life of the husband and the happiness of the family. According to mythology, if a girl’s marriage is getting delayed, she must observe the Hariyali Teej fast.  It is believed that fasting on Hariyali Teej leads to early marriage. It is mentioned in the scriptures that Goddess Parvati did a rigorous penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband, pleased with that, Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as his wife on the day of Shravan Shukla Teej. Since then, this day, a symbol of unbroken good fortune, has become a festival in the Indian tradition to strengthen the love between husband and wife and to maintain faith and trust between them. Apart from this, this festival also gives the message of sacrifice to husband and wife for each other. On this day, unmarried girls keep a fast and pray for a husband like Shiva, while married women pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to keep their marital life intact. On this day, women worship Goddess Parvati and Shivling by making them out of clay or sand. In the worship, all the Suhaag items are collected and decorated in a plate and offered to Goddess Parvati while praying for unbroken good fortune in their minds and listen to the story of Teej Mata. After the worship, these idols are immersed in a river or any holy reservoir. Along with this, there is a tradition of worshipping trees, lush green crops, Varun Dev and animals and birds on this day.

Why is there a tradition of swinging on Teej day?

Hariyali Teej festival is celebrated with great pomp in Rajasthan, India. Swings are put up at various places. In which the daughter-in-laws and daughters of the house go to swing with great pomp and show along with their friends. If you also remember your childhood days, then you will understand how special swinging is for you. How you forget all the things while swinging and you do not worry about anything. Swinging works like an exercise for our brain. During this, we use our muscles, legs, hands and the lower part of our body completely, due to which the body remains active. During this, the fat accumulated in all the muscles is also burnt and blood circulation also improves. So, for all these reasons, you should swing this Hariyali Teej without looking at your age. According to experts, the happiness and excitement that you feel while swinging, works to reduce your cortisol hormone.  It is like a mood booster which makes your mind happy. Apart from this, it promotes the production of happy hormones in your body and also increases serotonin which improves sleep. In this way, it can help in improving your mental state. Swinging increases your focus and helps in alerting the mind. What happens is that some part of your brain which is less used gets activated. Apart from this, it speeds up the neural activities of your brain and then becomes an exercise for all the nerves. Therefore, on this day, women keep fast for their husbands, worship Shiv-Gauri, swing and sing Sawan songs-Malhar in melodious voice.

How is the first Teej celebrated after marriage?

This festival of joy and enthusiasm along with worship and prayers fills new colors in life as a traditional festival. It brings intimacy in the married life and also binds the family and society in the thread of affection. Shravani Teej is a festival steeped in the colors of nature. On this day, wearing green bangles, green clothes, doing the sixteen makeup and applying mehendi has special significance. On this festival, newly married girls are called from their in-laws to their parents’ house on the first Sawan after marriage. According to popular tradition, Sindhara is sent from the in-laws’ house of the newly married girl on this festival, in which clothes, jewelry, makeup items, mehendi, Ghevar-Fani and sweets etc. are sent. In the first Sawan, girls stay at their mother’s house for a month. This was the custom in the olden times, because in those times girls did not have much freedom to roam around. Therefore, in the first Sawan, girls were called to their mother’s house so that they could relive their childhood with their friends.  And then on the last day of Shravan, on the day of Rakshabandhan, she used to go to her in-laws’ house after tying Rakhi to her brothers.

What is the scientific importance of Hariyali Teej?

According to the scriptures, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati have blessed this day to be a day of good fortune for married women. It is believed that married women who worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with sixteen adornments on this day, attain happiness and good fortune. On this day, floral ornaments are given more importance than gold and silver ornaments, so every woman should adorn herself with flowers on this day, apart from this, applying mehendi on this day is very auspicious. It is believed that applying mehendi provides coolness to the body and if someone is suffering from skin related diseases, then one gets relief from them too. On the other hand, the sindoor applied on the forehead is a sign of marital bliss on one hand, on the other hand, applying it also leads to the flow of positive energy. The same belief is about Mangalsutra, wearing it stops the flow of negative energy coming into life. Therefore, wearing ornaments on the occasion of Hariyali Teej is of greater importance. Actually, along with beauty, one benefit of wearing gold ornaments is that it does not cause heart related diseases.  Apart from this, wearing bracelets or bangles in the hands is also believed to keep blood circulation right. On the other hand, scientists believe that wearing silver anklets strengthens the bones of the feet. Wearing jewellery in the ears on the special occasion of Hariyali Teej relieves mental stress and ear piercing improves eyesight.

What to do on Hariyali Teej?

According to religious beliefs, on Hariyali Teej, yellow clothes should be offered to Lord Shiva and red clothes to Maa Parvati, along with this, the sindoor offered to Maa Parvati should be applied in the parting of hair as prasad. It is said that this increases the lifespan of the husband. Apart from this, it is very important to listen to the fasting story related to Hariyali Teej, in the evening, light a mustard oil lamp near the Peepal tree and donate something to the girls according to your capacity. Apart from this, there is a rule that every person observing the fast of Hariyali Teej should keep in mind, do not let anger enter your mind at all on this day.

  • I am a human like everyone else but different from others

    July 28th, 2024

How would you describe yourself to someone?

Every person is simple, straightforward and good in his own eyes. God definitely sends everyone in this world with some quality.

Similarly, if I talk about myself then I am a very hard working woman. If I decide to do any work then I do not sit in peace until it is completed.

In my childhood I was a simple, shy, timid and weak girl. On the contrary, after marriage I became a strong woman. Time filled me with all the experiences.

I know how to live with love but only if the other person behaves with me with love. I have learnt how to behave with ill mannered people. Even if people speak rudely to me it does not make any difference. But now I do not let myself get hurt.

I am always ready to help everyone but the person who asks me for help without fulfilling any of his selfish motives. Now I have also started to understand who really needs help.

I have never peeped into what people do in their lives. And I don’t like people giving their opinion on my life. I have removed such people from my life. Even though the circle of my fans is very small, I have no regrets.

I am a religious woman and I share my sorrows and pain only with my God. I ask for help and courage from him only and not from humans.

I have complete devotion towards my work and I give priority to my work. I believe that if any person wants to achieve something without hard work then he is lazy.

I love travelling, and coming back home after travelling refreshes my mood. Small joys make me feel very energetic.

Apart from cooking, embroidery, knitting, painting, there are many other things which I am fond of doing and I can do them very well.

I never consider myself perfect. I get angry very quickly and I also do not calm down very quickly. It was not like this in childhood, but perhaps time has made me stubborn.

But I can definitely say that I am a compassionate woman. If I have to give something to a poor or sad person, I am not greedy at all.

In the end I would just like to say that I do not know how to praise myself, nor do I know how to falsely praise others because I hate those who praise in front of others and later pull their legs.I am a human like everyone else but I am different from others.

  • Anger is no less than a dinosaur for humans

    July 27th, 2024

If you could bring back one dinosaur, which one would it be?

Dinosaurs became extinct 66 million years ago, so we certainly don’t have any dinosaur DNA at this point. But inside every human being there is an animal as dangerous as the dinosaurs, and that is anger.Even today anger is causing havoc in the world. Anger which can turn a human into a monster. Anger which is the biggest destroyer of humans. Just like bringing back dinosaurs means reducing the number of humans, plants and animals. Because dinosaurs have to take all of them for food. Similarly, anger also destroys the humanity of a human being.

  • How does mental health affect physical health?

    July 26th, 2024

Staying healthy is a major goal in life. Health advice is widely available, but most of it focuses on physical health. Our physical and mental health are interconnected. If the balance of mental or physical health is disturbed, we are harmed. A healthy mind resides in a healthy body, similarly, a healthy mind leads to a healthy body. A person’s mental health is determined by their emotional, social, and psychological levels. A person’s mental health has a significant impact on the way they function, process emotions, and make decisions.

A person with good mental health can maintain healthy relationships, express a wide range of emotions and easily cope with the difficulties that come during change. Our mental health has so much power that it can cure even serious diseases of the body, so we have to keep our brain healthy too. Mental and physical health are deeply related. You must be thinking, how does my mental health affect my physical health? Poor mental health affects the ability to make healthy decisions and fight diseases. Neglecting mental health can lead to serious health complications such as heart disease, high blood pressure, weak immune system, asthma, obesity, depression. Many of us consider mind and body as two different things. We also treat them in different ways, going to a doctor for physical problems and a therapist for mental problems.  However, scientists are finding more and more overlap between the two. A healthy mind helps your body function better, and a healthy body improves your mental health. Together, these two areas form a unit called the mind-body connection. There are many ways in which your mind and body influence each other. One of these ways is the two-way relationship between our gut health and our mental health. The point to note here is that your mental state can influence the physical symptoms that you experience in your gut and vice versa, the health of your gut can affect your mental state. Because it is at the core of how we think, cope with stress and view our physical health issues.

For example, people can react very differently to the same stress. One person may take a mistake pointed out by someone in their work as a challenge to improve their skills or prove the critic wrong and another person may respond to similar criticism by mentally harassing themselves and constantly worrying about future criticisms. This may lead to an increased heart rate, eating unhealthy foods or headaches.

One example is people with chronic pain. Sometimes people experience constant or intermittent pain due to physical anxiety. If they are able to accept the pain as an inconvenience while they try to get better, it is more likely to improve over time. On the other hand, if they become frustrated, annoyed, and frequently angry because of the pain, these thoughts and feelings can increase the pain and its frequency. Frustration can then prevent them from trying to get better.Constant stress, emotional problems, and a generally negative outlook can also increase blood pressure, lower the immune system, and even shorten lifespan.

Our mental health is closely linked to physical health. If one is affected, it definitely affects the other. We also know that the chemicals in our brain affect our mind and thoughts. In a state of mental stress, we generally do not like to do any kind of exercise. Exercise causes the release of endorphins in our brain. These chemicals make us feel happy. The less we exercise, the less endorphins are released. As a result, we are not able to feel motivated in any way. For mental health, it is important that we eat nutritious food, exercise, and get enough sleep. Without health, wealth, property, entertainment and other facilities seem insignificant. The person who is healthy in body and mind is the happiest creature in the world. To a sick person, everything seems meaningless. In this sense, good health is the first happiness, generally a person is said to enjoy good health when he is mentally and physically fit.  But a person will be considered completely healthy only when he is enjoying good physical, mental, social, spiritual and cognitive health. That is, contrary to popular belief, health does not only mean being physically fit and free from any disease. It also means that a person should have overall well-being. This includes being mentally and emotionally strong, having healthy inter-personal relationships, having good cognitive skills and being spiritually awakened.

Being healthy is not a state, it is a way of life. It is a process. To stay healthy and enjoy good health, it is necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For this, it is necessary to be mentally alert, right from food, lifestyle, cleanliness. Stay with people who are full of positive thinking and encourage them to do better instead of putting themselves in trouble. Apart from being socially active and maintaining good relations with people, it is also important to look within yourself. Spend some time with yourself so that you can understand your needs better and live your life in the right direction. Due to good health, even the most complex tasks can be done easily. A healthy person is full of indomitable courage, enthusiasm and a sense of religion in abundance. He has self-confidence. Due to which his heart always blooms like a flower. On the contrary, those people who do not have the treasure of health, despite being rich, consider their life a burden. For them, delicious dishes made at home are like poison.  He wants to eat the delicious dish, but is unable to do so because of being unwell. Thus, if one wants to live happily, it is very important to keep the body healthy. To remain healthy, we must connect with natural things. Unnatural things must be abandoned. The easiest mantra to remain healthy is- following the rules of nature, good behavior, hard physical work and nutritious, simple and sattvik diet. Drinking alcohol, consuming other types of intoxicants, living in polluted environment, improper behavior, stress – all these things have a bad effect on our health. Therefore, we must protect our life and health by avoiding them. A healthy body is considered to be the first happiness of life.

  • Traveling is not possible only with plane tickets

    July 26th, 2024

If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?

Everyone likes to travel. So, if they get it for free, then perhaps people can dream big. But even if I get two tickets, first I should see that just going to the place I want to go will not be enough. Will I be able to bear the expenses of staying, food and travelling there? Because wherever we go, we first think about bearing the expenses according to that place. So I think even if I get free tickets, I will have to move ahead after thinking a lot. At present, my savings will allow me to go to Sri Lanka, which is my heartfelt desire. Being a Sanatani, I would like to visit the land where the feet of Sri Rama and Sita had fallen.

  • Where is Mummy’s Kinnu?

    July 25th, 2024

What’s the story behind your nickname?

Nickname is a loving name after our birth, I think there is hardly any child who does not have a nickname. Many people get rid of their nickname after growing up but for their parents they still remain the same child and are called by the same name. I too have a nickname which is now limited to my mother only. My mother still calls me Kinnu which means orange in hindi. She says that in my childhood my face was very chubby and fair so she suddenly thought of naming me Kinnu. I like the loving name given by my mother. I remember when I used to play hide and seek with her in childhood, she would look for me and say, Where is Mummy’s Kinnu?
