Menstruation is a basic process in women. This natural action gives her the status of a woman in the society. It would not be wrong to say that the responsibility of human existence depends on this. There is no doubt that this universe was created by a woman. That is why God has made woman different from man. Men consider themselves capable in every field. But in today’s era, women are also keeping pace with men. The qualities that women possess, such as tolerance, kindness, sympathy, affection and the ability to lead in every field. A man can never have all these qualities. In ancient times, women used to be very worried and stressed about periods. But nowadays women are considering this as a physical change and are moving forward in every field.

According to Purana, why do women have periods?

According to the Purana, once ‘Jupiter’, who was the guru of the gods, once became very angry with the king of gods, Indra. Meanwhile, demons attacked Devlok and Indra had to leave Indralok. Then Indra reached Brahmaji and asked for his help. Then Brahma ji said, Indra Dev, you should serve a Brahma-knowledgeable person, in such a situation your sorrow will be solved. Then Indra started serving a Brahma-knowledgeable person. But he was unaware that the mother of that Brahma-gyani was a demon. Mother had a special attachment towards demons. In such a situation, all the havan material offered by Lord Indra to the gods was offered to the Brahma-knowledgeable demons. Due to this, Indra’s service was disrupted. When Indra came to know about this, he became very angry. He murdered that Brahma-gyani. Before committing the murder, Indra considered that Brahma-gyani as his Guru and killing a Guru is a grave sin. For this reason, he also became guilty of Brahmahatya. This sin started following him in the form of a terrible demon. Somehow Indra hid himself in a flower and continued doing penance to Lord Vishnu in it for many years. Lord Vishnu was pleased and saved Indra from the crime of killing Brahma. He gave a suggestion for salvation from this sin. As per the suggestion, Indra convinced the tree, water, land and woman to give up a little portion of his sin. After listening to Indra, he agreed. Indra asked to give each of them a boon.

First of all, the tree took one-fourth of the sin of Brahmahatya, in return for which Indra gave the tree a boon of coming alive on its own. After this, water took one-fourth share and Indra gave a boon to water that it would have the power to purify other things. In the third stage, the land took the blame of Brahma’s murder from Indra. In return, Indra gave a boon to the land that the water would have the power to purify other things. Any subsequent injuries will not affect her and she will be fine again. At last only the woman was left. The woman took the blame for Indra killing Brahma. In return, Indra gave a boon to the woman that women would menstruate every month. But women will be able to enjoy work many times more than men. According to mythological beliefs, women have been suffering the sin of killing Brahma i.e. killing their Guru for centuries. Therefore they are not allowed to go to their gurus in temples. It is believed that from then onwards menstruation started in women. In the modern era, people who follow scientific beliefs do not take these things seriously.

Is it because of periods that women’s mind becomes sharp?

There is another big difference in the way the brains of men and women work. A part of men’s brain works while doing any work. Whereas in women both parts of the brain work. The way the right or left side of the brain works is related to the hand. For example, if someone uses his right hand, then the knowledge of language is in the left part of his brain. But the structure of women’s brain is even different. According to research, when estrogen and progesterone hormones are released in women, only then both parts of their brain work more rapidly. This brings flexibility in the thinking ability of women. And the right part of the brain starts working at a faster pace. It has been observed that people whose right side of the brain works more solve mathematics problems faster. Monthly changes in the body affect the way the brain works. These changes in women are positive.

From a scientific point of view, menstruation is the bleeding caused by the breakdown of the endometrium, the inner surface of the uterus. To conceive, it is necessary for this process to be normal and this process also plays an important role in hormonal control in the body. There is no scientific basis for imposing various restrictions on women during menstruation. It is a traditional belief in various religions and cultures that during this period the woman should be kept away from the normal household work. But it is part of cultural and religious tradition. There is no fact or answer about this in science.
