Consistency has a deep impact in life.  While company makes a person great, bad company also brings him downfall.  Consistency has a great influence in building the character of a human being.  In our scriptures great importance has been given to good company.  The meaning of good company is to be in contact with people of good character and to build relationships with them.  Even an ordinary person becomes important by the company of virtuous people.

Man is a social animal.  He is born in the society and remains till the end.  In his family, relatives and neighborhood and in his workplace he comes in contact with people of different types of temperament.  Due to constant contact, it is natural for each other to influence each other’s thoughts and behavior.  By coming in contact with bad people, we acquire bad values and by coming in contact with good people, we start acquiring good qualities.  Gradually, with increasing age, man tries to understand the meaning of life and his outlook towards life is formed according to his company.  Good company inspires a man to adopt high thoughts and increases his character strength, whereas in bad company, man’s character continuously deteriorates and man deviates from the right path and destroys his own life. Good company means good company.  Company of people, company of virtuous people.  A good person means a person whose conduct is good, who always possesses good qualities and behaves well towards the people who come in contact with him.  Those who follow the truth, are charitable, have all the qualities of good character, who are honest and compassionate, whose behavior is always good with everyone.  Staying with such good people, listening to them, reading their books, reading biographies of such virtuous people and discussing their goodness all come under good company. Bad company is the opposite of good company.  Living with evil natured people is bad company.  Bad company is like a terrible contagious disease.  The poison of bad company gradually kills all the qualities of a person.  Even if a clever person gets trapped in this trap, it is not possible for him to escape from it and get out clean.  It is our utmost duty to avoid such bad company.

A bumblebee was friends with an insect living in dung.  One day the insect said to bumblebee ,Brother, you are my best friend, so come to my place for food. bumblebee came to eat food.  Later, bumblebee started thinking that I had kept company with the bad guys and that is why I had to eat cow dung.  Now bumblebee invited the insect to come to his place and said, ‘Come to me tomorrow. The next day the insect reached bumblebee’s place.  The bumblebee picked up the insect and placed it in the rose flower.  The insect drank the pollen.  While he was thanking his friend, the priest of the nearby temple came and plucked the flowers and offered them at the feet of God.  The bumblebee saw God and also got the privilege of sitting at his feet.  In the evening the priest collected all the flowers and left them in the holy Ganga river.  The worm was surprised at his luck.  Meanwhile, the bumblebee came flying near the insect and asked – Friend, how are you?  The insect said-Brother!  Got liberated from the sins of many births.  All this is the result of good company.  Good qualities arise from company, good qualities go from company. Iron was put into the ship and launched into the water.

No one knows why we meet each other in the journey of this life, we cannot have blood relations with everyone but God binds us with some people in wonderful relationships, we should always cherish those relationships.  It is said that if you find good friends then life becomes successful and if you do not find the right friends then life becomes spoiled.  Everyone has friends everywhere, from school to college to career.  In childhood, we learn most from our friends.  If good friends are made in school, their goodness impacts the children.  Many times good friends play an important role in removing the evils of their other friends.  Therefore, the description of Krishna Sudama’s friendship should be read.  Sudama had a good friend like Krishna, that is why his life got better.
