Mauni Amavasya is the biggest bathing festival of the month of Magh. According to the scriptures, Rishi Manu was born on this day, hence it is also called Mauni Amavasya. It is believed that worshiping God silently on this day gives special results. It is very auspicious to worship Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu on this day. This day is considered very special to get the blessings of ancestors. It is believed that remaining silent on this day gives self-confidence. Mauni is derived from the word Muni. Bathing on Mauni Amavasya is said to be the best among all other bathing festivals. Whom to worship on the day of Mauni Amavasya?
There is a tradition to perform Rudrabhishek of Shankarji on the festival of Mauni Amavasya. On the day of Amavasya, there is a meeting of Sun and Moon, the Moon sets before the Sun, on Amavasya, donating white items related to the Moon like sugar, rice, milk, curd etc., the Moon becomes favourable, the donor gets mental peace and Gets success. After bathing, it is important to donate cow, food, clothes, gold, silver etc. or any other accessible item. After donation, worship Shri Tulji, Shankarji, Parvatiji with devotion along with the rituals and circumambulate the Peepal tree 108 times. In each circumambulation, something should be offered to the Peepal tree. After completing 108 circumambulation of the Peepal tree, all the things offered in all the circumambulation should be donated to a Brahmin. How to maintain silence?
Follow these rules while keeping a silent fast on the day of Mauni Amavasya
If you want to remain silent on the day of Mauni Amavasya, then wake up early in the morning and take a pilgrimage bath.
If you cannot take a pilgrimage bath, then take a bath at home by adding Ganga water to the bath water. After taking bath etc., take a pledge to keep the fast of silence. Once you have taken the resolution of keeping the fast of silence, then do not speak anything otherwise your fast will break. Will be broken.
