What’s the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make? Why?

Many times in life we take some decisions and many times we have to change them with the circumstances. Many times in our life we find ourselves in such a situation where it becomes difficult to take a decision. We are unable to understand what is the right thing to do. We get stuck in dilemma and keep wasting our energy in negativity. But when we try to take a decision, we get tied in a bond. I think we have to create positivity in ourselves for that thing instead of taking a decision. No decision in life is difficult. Actually you are connected to many things, that is why it becomes difficult for you to take a decision. Otherwise whether it is divorce or death, breaking a relationship with a loved one or adopting someone, or any other decision, it should not be difficult for us. No matter how much it matters. But this is just a next phase of life, which will definitely come in some form or the other. Before life forces you to do that work, you should do it consciously beforehand.

Decision making is not that difficult. The difficulty comes because you have a very deep attachment to the things around you. In Western society, people have a lot of trouble deciding whether to marry or not. Even if they have been living with someone for years. In Hindu society we get committed to it. But in Western society, making a commitment to marry the same person becomes a big struggle for them. Every small process of life is also causing suffering. If you have identified yourself with things that you are not and at the same time you do not want to be hurt from anywhere, it means that you do not want life to happen. You are creating a self-defeating situation for yourself. If you do not identify with your own body, you will not identify with any object or person. If we are committed to anything, our life will become boring.

When I started taking small decisions like I will wake up at 5:00 am, I will exercise everyday, I will not eat fast food from now on, I will not lie, etc. then sometimes I was not able to stick to my decisions, then I felt very guilty. That is why I stopped taking decisions now. Life is so short and I do not want to get bound by it. Yes, there are some decisions which I have taken. Like helping the poor, not to cheat anyone, not to interfere in the work of others, and to keep myself happy in all circumstances. This is the most valuable thing for me. Because those who cannot keep themselves happy cannot keep others happy either.
