‘Guru’ has been glorified a lot in Sanatan Dharmashastras. The position of Guru is considered greater than God. Therefore, the followers of Vedanta religion, whom people of the world call Hindus these days, give great importance to the Guru-disciple tradition. Because of this belief of ours, some people have monopolized this position. A child born in the house of a Guru is born a Guru by birth. The extent of misuse of religion and Gurupada that is taking place in this era has never happened before. There has been a kind of flood of gurus. In this era, the Guru-disciple relationship is completely based on economic basis. No one can fully describe the glory of a Guru. The glory of Guru is greater than that of God. But that glory is of truth, not of arrogance and hypocrisy. It is very important to have a good Guru for guidance in any field. This same formula applies in the field of spirituality also. ‘Spirituality’ is a subtle-level subject, that is, beyond the understanding of the intellect. Therefore, it is impossible to identify with certainty who is a spiritually advanced guide or guru. A Guru is completely different from a teacher or a preacher. The only conclusion that emerges from the above is that only the one who has the power to unite with Govind has the right to be called ‘Guru’, the one who cannot do this, at least does not have the right to be called ‘Guru’, the rest is something else. Can also be made.
Guru is a post. To reach this point several things are required. Just as physical knowledge is required for positions in the material world, similarly spiritual knowledge is required to reach this position, because this position is spiritual. Just as iron develops magnetic attraction after going through various processes, in the same way a man, after going through deep spiritual worship, goes to the refuge of his saint, Sadguru. If the Guru considers a disciple ‘worthy’, then He transfers his power to the disciple who has completely surrendered. In this way, he becomes entitled to the post of Guru, but he does not get that post as long as his Guru Pancha remains in the physical body. As soon as the Guru’s body becomes calm, all those spiritual powers enter the body of the disciple. Only the Guru has the knowledge of all these activities.
The disciple in whom Shaktipat is imparted remains ignorant while being with the Guru. As soon as the Guru’s body becomes calm, all the powers enter into him and start showing their influence in the physical world, then gradually he starts feeling it. In this way, the one who attains the position of Guru by the grace of God and the blessings of Guru due to the influence of Karma of many births is the true spiritual Guru. Just as one attains a material position after attaining special qualifications as per the results of one’s karma, in the same way one attains the position of a spiritual guru. The time of physical post is fixed but the Guru post of spiritual world is received for whole life.
The Guru was living with many of his disciples in an ashram. All the disciples respected their Guru and followed his every order. After many days had passed, one day a disciple said to his Guru – Guruji, I want to become a Guru like you, I also want to have many disciples and get the same respect as you. This is what the disciple said: Hearing the wish, Gurudev smiled and said that to achieve this goal you will have to work hard for many years and wait for the right time. After hard practice, your wish can be fulfilled with your ability.
The disciple said why do I have to wait so long? Why can’t I give knowledge to the disciples today itself? After this the Guru asked his disciple to get down from the throne and stand. The Guru himself stood on the throne. After this, the Guru asked the disciple to take me to the upper throne. Hearing this, the disciple started thinking how can this be possible? The disciple said to the Guru, Guruji, if I myself am standing below, how can I take you up? For this, I will also have to come up. After this, the Guru smiled and said that in the same way, if you want to raise any of your disciples, then your own level should also be high. From these words of the Guru, the disciple understood that He will have to wait until the right time comes with his sadhana.
