How can one find happiness in life?
Happiness is not something to be found anywhere or in the market. It is within you and us. Recognizing the source of happiness is the pinnacle of spirituality. There is musk inside the deer itself, but its fragrance seems to come from outside and the person searching for it in the forest finds happiness either in his work or in relationships or external things. Some people find it impossible to live without drugs, while others hate drugs. It simply means that a person takes drugs only to feel stress-free. Some people can get relief from stress through music and some people can get relief from other things. Someone may also be addicted to accumulating money. In this way, a person keeps doing different types of purposes to get happiness.
Actually, the person keeps running away from himself. He doesn’t want to know his truth. He considers only the pleasure he gets from material things as real, even though it is temporary. This is not happiness, but an illusion of happiness. After some time the person starts getting bored of it. We should not depend on any material thing to get happiness. Be it happiness or sorrow, we should remain happy in every situation. Although it is easy to say, it is very difficult to try. A person always tries to be happy, but after seeing the neighbor’s son getting higher marks in the examination, he starts feeling sad for his son. The mere mention of a person’s promotion in the office would send a shiver down his spine. After a long time, a Seth was walking towards the backyard of his garden, when he saw that the whole garden was looking sad and sad. All the trees and plants looked withered and withered. The Seth got worried and to find out the reason, he examined each and every tree and plant. He started asking different questions. The oak tree said, he is dying because he is not as tall as the cedar. Seth looked at the cedar, he was also sad and silent, his branches were also bent, he said, what is the point of being tall? It happened that I am not able to give fruits to the grapes like the vines. Children would come to him, caress him, play with him, and he would give sweet grapes in return. But when Seth turned his eyes towards the grape vines, his face was also sad. Seth said why sister Lata, what complaint do you have.
Lata burst out and said, Do I have beauty like a rose? Nor do I have a fragrance like that. Then you tell me, what should I do if I do not remain sad. But rose also had a complaint, why there are thorns in its body..?
Seth moved ahead with a rejected heart. Then he saw a Gulmohar tree standing proudly, looking proud, he saw that its yellow leaves were flaunting from its branches swaying in the wind. It was shining distinctly from the rays of the sun from above. It seemed as if he had no scope for Ranjo’s sorrow. Seth asked him, This is a very strange thing, Gulmohar, each tree is different from the other, the plants are sad, silent and full of complaints, how are you so happy? Gulmohar said, Seth ji, all the other trees and plants are unhappy by comparing Sanvay with others instead of seeing their own merits. Whereas I believe that if you have given me a place in your garden, you must have given some thought. You must have impressed me by my qualities. I do my work well. I am not jealous of anyone. I am happy in my abilities and qualities. Others may have something unique, but what I have, others also do not have. And this feeling is the reason for my happiness. , I walk thinking that there must be something special in me that Seth ji has selected me. I do my best work, I keep making my presence felt well. That’s why I am happy. That’s why I also look fresh.
Seth saw great wisdom in Gulmohar’s words. Why is the world not being satisfied with itself and burning in jealousy and hatred? Why don’t people become elevated by further enhancing what is within them?
Actually, happiness does not come from external things, it is not easy to assimilate this fact. The importance of spiritual practice has been explained in our religious philosophy only to make the encounter with the truth easier. The impurities within are gradually eliminated through this. The misconceptions that have been formed about God that God is responsible for our happiness or sorrow, are also proven wrong with time. Meditation, bhajan, satsang – all these are the paths of spiritual practice. If a stone is continuously thrown in a lake, waves keep rising. In such a situation there is never a chance to see the bottom. Human nature is made up of Satva, Raja and Tama gunas. When a person is busy in lust, virtuous thoughts cannot come to his mind. You will have to give yourself time for this
