How to rise above your evils?

In today’s time, man has many vices, he does not remove them, rather he tries to improve others by preaching. But first we should change ourselves, only then we will be able to change the society. If man first removes the evil within himself, then all the evils of this world will go away automatically. Evil is neither a virtue nor an act, rather it is the result of ignorance.
Man makes mistakes not because someone is bad, but because he is ignorant. If a person is doing something wrong then whether he is labeled as evil or not, it depends on how many people are with you. If the whole city joins you in some bad work, then it will become a good thing.

Evil can never be eradicated because it is neither a quality nor an action that has an end. If something exists we can destroy it, but non-existence cannot be destroyed. You cannot destroy darkness, you just have to bring light. Similarly, you cannot destroy evil, you just have to bring knowledge and awareness. Evil changes its form, face and direction but fortunately, ignorance has only one form, so it can be dealt with easily. To deal with ignorance we have to know the existence. To know the existence, first we have to understand that your mind and body are created by this world and its people. Your original nature is not in your experience because it is on the other side of the mind. In a way, your mind is like a mirror. It may be distorted, but it is still a mirror. You see the world because it is reflected in the mirror of your mind.  But the mind never shows itself in this mirror. You can contemplate your thoughts and feelings but you cannot contemplate the self. Your being cannot be contemplated – it can only be experienced. The mind is reflecting the world around you but there is no experience of you as a life. We always try to make friends with the people we know but due to our prejudice and ill will, we fail to make friends with gentlemen. We are ready to pick up a coin lying in the mud but avoid looking at the qualities of those whom we look at with a tainted mind.

We are ready to suffer but not ready to give up evil. We do not learn from our past sufferings and experiences and leave the wrong path, nor do we come to the right path by the advice of any saint or gentleman. We are willing to lose our peace but do not have the slightest desire to give up our stubbornness. So if you know the nature of this ‘mirror’, then you also know the nature of all the images that it shows. So there is only one kind of ignorance – that you do not know what this mirror is. If you know about this one thing, then you do not need to be knowledgeable about everything in the universe.  If you just know what it is, it is the end of ignorance and the end of evil. If there is evil in you, don’t try to eliminate it, but adopt good habits, bad habits will go away on their own, because if you focus too much on getting rid of bad habits, they will not go away, but they will dominate you and in trying to get rid of them, you will forget good habits as well.

Even if we have to bring tears in the eyes of the other person for our happiness, it does not matter. We are ready to remove pebbles, nails and thorns from the path to reach our destination on time, but even if we feel like compromising with someone, we are not ready to forget the memories of bitter incidents that happened in the past. Buddha says – Being sad does not end the problems, every person should think about the things related to it to get rid of sadness. There is definitely some way to get rid of every sorrow, never let sorrow dominate you. Any object, subject, which we consider more important than our life, becomes the cause of sorrow in our life. The more we differentiate between the coming of sorrow and our being sad, the more distance we create between them, the closer we will get to happiness. When happiness comes, man drowns in ego, when sadness comes, he becomes stressed. Both these things are created from within.  In both the situations, if we separate ourselves from the world and connect with ourselves from within, then we will start feeling that whether happiness or sorrow comes, we are standing apart and watching both. The more we separate ourselves from these, the more we will get connected to God. We all also spend our whole life in getting rid of sorrow instead of getting rid of sin. The day we give up the efforts to hide our sin, that is, our evil, that day sorrow will leave us on its own.
