What’s the oldest things you’re wearing today?
Every day something new comes in this world of fashion. From clothes to jewellery, shoes, bags, everything is new every day. The fashion market changes with the changing times. Keeping in mind everyone’s choice, many clothes and accessories are available in the market. I also like to stay updated with fashion. This is in my nature. It is always right to keep yourself updated with a stylish look. For this, I know about new fashion through the internet and other options. Only after that I go to the market for shopping. But there are some things which I still feel happy using. When I wear those things, my old memories get refreshed.
My mother gave me a necklace at the time of my wedding, which I still like very much. There might be millions of designs of necklaces in the market but I still like my mother’s necklace very much. And whenever I wear it, I do not forget to call my mother. With as much love as my mother gave me that necklace, I have taken care of it with the same love.
Among the old things, I still wear a shawl made by my grandmother. The light pink colored shawl that my grandmother had knitted for me 30 years ago is still in fashion. Whenever I wear that shawl, I feel the warmth of my grandmother’s love. When my grandmother left all her work and started making a shawl for me, I was already engaged. And she was in a hurry that I should complete it by the time of my marriage. This shawl is filled with her love and affection. Perhaps I will preserve it for my whole life.
Talking about old things, my aunt had given me a blouse on which she had embroidered herself. That red coloured blouse is so beautiful that even today one does not get to see such embroidery. I have kept that blouse very carefully. After a few years of marriage, when it became a little tight for me, I opened its stitching from the side and made it according to my size. Even today when I wear that blouse, you and my friends cannot stop asking. And my blouse has not torn till now because it is made of Khadi cloth.
I wear my own crochet top which I made after marriage. I wear the same even today. My daughter also likes my crochet top very much. I made the same top for my daughter too. And sometimes we mother and daughter wear the same thing.
There are some things that we don’t feel like removing because we have an attachment with them. Many people might think that she is so miserly that she wears such old things. But I don’t care about people because I know how to maintain the dignity of my relationships. It is not an ordinary thing to live under the love and blessings of your ancestors. It is not necessary that we keep only expensive things. Some small things also give us happiness. And it is not necessary that the thing that you have preserved is in fashion now or not. Only those people can do this who know the value of relationships.
