The Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month is considered very auspicious in Hinduism. This date is also called Akshaya Tritiya. On worshipping Lord Shri Hari Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, on Akshaya Tritiya, the devotee gets infinite fruits. And happiness and good fortune always remain in his house. It is believed that Akshaya Tritiya is also celebrated as the birthday of Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This festival is also celebrated as Parashuram Jayanti at different places in the country.
It is also said that on this day river Ganga descended on earth. King Bhagirath had meditated for years to bring Ganga on earth. It is said that the day of Akshaya Tritiya is so auspicious that any auspicious work can be done on this day without looking at the Muhurta. Any auspicious work like marriage, wedding, Mundan Sanskar, shop inauguration or griha pravesh of a house can be completed on the day of Akshaya Tritiya without thinking anything. Krishna had saved Draupadi from disrobing on this day.
Krishna and Sudama met on this day. Kubera found the treasure on this day. Satyayug and Treta Yug started on this day. Brahmaji’s son Akshay Kumar was also born on this day. The doors of the famous pilgrimage site Shri Badri Narayan Ji are opened on this day. In Vrindavan’s Banke Bihari temple, the Shri Vigraha Charan can be seen only on this day in the year, otherwise it remains covered with a cloth throughout the year.
The Mahabharata war ended on this day. Sudama met his friend Lord Krishna on Akshaya Tritiya. Sudama gave Krishna only a handful of rice grains as a gift. He had nothing to give to Shri Krishna. The God who was hungry for devotion was pleased with his love and turned his hut into a palace. It is said about Akshaya Tritiya that there is no month like Vaishakh, no era like Satyayug, no scripture like Vedas and no pilgrimage like Gangaji and in the same way there is no date like Akshaya Tritiya.
According to religious beliefs, there are some such works on Akshaya Tritiya which bring happiness, prosperity and grandeur. Apart from this, there is also a law to buy gold and silver on this day. It is believed that buying gold on Akshaya Tritiya doubles the gold and wealth during the day and quadruples at night. Donation has a very special significance on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, so on this day, some poor person should be donated grains, clothes, money etc. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, try not to sleep till late in the morning. Wake up in the morning in Brahma Muhurta and take a bath. While bathing, add a little Ganga water to the water. By doing this, you will get the benefit of bathing in the Ganges. Doing this remedy is considered auspicious. Akshaya Tritiya is considered very auspicious for any auspicious work. In such a situation, if you want to buy a new item like a vehicle, house etc., then it will prove auspicious. Apart from this, doing Griha Pravesh on this day is also considered auspicious. It is believed that any work done on Akshaya Tritiya brings blessings. The fruits of the good deeds done on this day are received by the person throughout the year. In such a situation, do not do any wrong deed on Akshaya Tritiya and do not harm anyone. To get the virtue of worshipping Lord Vishnu on Akshaya Tritiya, keep some basil leaves in his offering. On Akshaya Tritiya, one should not consume non-vegetarian food and should not insult any elder person. According to religious belief, Shankh is considered as the brother of Goddess Lakshmi. In such a situation, if possible, buy a Shankh on Akshaya Tritiya and bring it home. It is believed that this remedy removes negative energies from the house. It is also believed on scientific basis that the source of energy on this day is very effective and positive as compared to other days of the year. On this day, the external energy of a person and the energy inside him awakens a different kind of brightness, which has a deep and intense effect on the person’s brain, which makes the intellect efficient.
In India, there is a tradition of eating Khichdi on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. This Khichdi is made by adding Saptadhan. And (Amlana) Tamarind water is also consumed with it. The heat is very intense during Akshaya Tritiya. And consuming Tamarind water cools the stomach. Our sages have set a unique example by associating food with festivals.
Akshaya means eternal, immortal and indestructible. Therefore, it is said that those who celebrate Akshaya Tritiya attain Akshaya.
