What is your favorite restaurant?

My favorite restaurant is my mother’s kitchen, where food is prepared for me with love.  The food cooked in mother’s kitchen is fresh. In my house, food is prepared at different times for all three meals and the practice of eating stored food is not in our culture.  That’s why we all try to cook as much food as we can eat at one time. Eating freshly prepared food provides our body with more nutrients than eating stale or packed food.  When cooked food is reheated and eaten, a large number of its nutrients are lost. Preservatives are used in outside food, which are food grade chemicals.  But these are not nutritious for health.  We do not use any kind of preservatives in home cooked food.  Therefore, this food is more nutritious and does not contain excess of unnecessary chemical elements. Everyone takes full care of hygiene while preparing home-made food.  To prepare it we use oil, ghee and spices.  This makes this food completely pure.

Whereas restaurants, hotels or street food etc. all come under business food and while making business food, profit is always considered first.  Therefore, you cannot trust this food as much in terms of purity as you can trust your home-cooked food. Problems like food poisoning usually occur due to eating outside food.  Because we know the shelf life of home cooked food and when it gets too old, we do not eat it.  Whereas the food cooked outside tries to hide its old and stale taste by making it tasty with spices and gravy. While preparing food at home, my mother takes full care of the amount of oil, fat, spices and vegetables in it.  Must be in quantity.

Homemade food is not just food, the way it is cooked also shapes our values. Many times, there is an argument between family members over some issue.  In such circumstances, unless we talk, the conversation does not start.  Whereas if we sit together and eat food, then in some way or the other the conversation starts. Every family has a different atmosphere which cannot be understood unless we spend time together.  While eating, we talk about many topics and also try to understand what is going on in someone’s life.  Therefore, in my view, it is better to try making those dishes at home rather than spoiling your health by eating restaurant food.
