Should we be afraid of having a bad dream?

Many people do not sleep properly at night and even if they do, they wake up due to bad dreams.  Often one has dreams of snakes, dreams of ghosts or some such dreams due to which there is fear.  Many people see the death of their loved ones in their dreams.  It is said about such dreams that the age of the person whose death occurs in the dream increases. Nightmares can arise due to many reasons like stress, anxiety, irregular sleep, consumption of medicines, mental health disorders etc.  It is normal to have nightmares after a traumatic event like physical abuse, sexual abuse or an accident. Dreams seen with closed eyes are sometimes good and sometimes bad.  Some of these dreams are remembered and some are forgotten.  If we talk about nightmares, then many times they start coming and do not seem to end.

In case of frequent nightmares, after taking bath every morning, recite Hanuman Chalisa along with worshiping Sankat Mochan Hanuman ji.  This provides relief from bad dreams.  If you want, you can recite Hanuman Chalisa even before sleeping.  It has been said for Hanuman ji, Nashe Rog Hare Sab Pira, Japat Continuous Hanumat Bira. On Saturday, take the name of Hanumanji and tie a black thread on the big toe or index finger of the feet, this will give strength to the mind and ward off bad or  Scary dreams will not come. Keep alum tied in a black cloth under your sleeping bed.  This frees the person from bad dreams, flashes in sleep or any unknown fear.  Keep a piece of alum near the child’s bedside on any Tuesday or Sunday.  The child will not have bad dreams while sleeping at night, nor will the child get scared or scream.  If you are having continuous nightmares then keep some Durva grass under your pillow and sleep.  It is said that Durva is destroyer of Tridosha.  It is also said in our scriptures that Durva grass destroys nightmares.

Before going to bed, keep aside all kinds of worries and do not read a scary book or watch any such movie or discuss such a thing with anyone before sleeping.  To avoid bad dreams, keep a knife, scissors, nail cutter or onion under your pillow.  By doing that remedy, you get relief from scary dreams. If you want that you do not have nightmares at night, then do not bring the slippers and shoes that come out of your bedroom inside the house even by mistake, nor do you keep them in your bed.  Keep any slipper or shoe at the bedside.
According to astrology, if you suffer from frequent nightmares, then to avoid this, you should keep three peacock feathers under the head of your bed.  By following this remedy, nightmares stop. If you are going to sleep, then also decide in which direction your feet are.  Never set foot in South and East.  Do not keep your feet in the direction of the door.  This causes loss of health and prosperity.  Sleeping with head towards east increases knowledge.  Sleeping with head towards the south brings peace, health and prosperity. Dinner should be eaten 2 hours before sleeping.  Dinner should be light and satvik.  For good sleep, do Vajrasana after eating, then do Bhramari Pranayam and finally go to sleep while doing Shavasana.

If the bad dream comes after 4 o’clock in the morning, then after waking up in the morning, without saying anything to anyone, tell your entire dream to the Tulsi plant.  By doing this one does not get bad results of the dream.  If there is no Tulsi plant, then tell God in your mind and pray for everything to be good.
Write your bad dream on paper, burn it and throw the ashes in the drain.  After this, chant Om Namah Shivay mantra at least 108 times.  Before sleeping at night, camphor should be burnt in the entire house and in your bedroom every day.  This removes negative energy from the house.  You get a good sleep at night and get rid of bad dreams.  Apart from this, there are many benefits of burning camphor in the house every day. Some people eat food in bed while sleeping at night, due to which some false particles remain on the bed.  It is believed that this also causes nightmares.  If negative energy starts flowing in your house then it also causes nightmares.  Sometimes due to Pitrudosh etc., nightmares start coming.  For this, you should get your horoscope checked and get the solution.

People who are emotionally weak remain haunted by the fear of the unknown.  These people are not mentally strong due to which they start seeing nightmares while sleeping at night.  A person should recite Hanuman Chalisa daily and if possible, recite Hanuman Chalisa before sleeping at night.  This provides relief from both fear and bad dreams.  Understand the law of nature: The thing we want to distance ourselves from runs after us even more.  So stop thinking about dreams.  Bring positive thoughts in your mind and always try to be happy.
