By taking birth in this world in the form of Maryada Purushottam Ram in Treta Yuga, Shri Ram has given a wonderful message to the whole world about the dignity of relationships, following them and saving them. And also the happiness which seemed to spread throughout the world as soon as he arrived. Lord Ram was a brave man of calm nature since childhood. He always gave supreme importance to dignity. For this reason he is known as Maryada Purushottam Ram. His kingdom was considered just and prosperous.
The Lord who was merciful to the poor and the benefactor of Kausalyaji appeared. The mother was filled with joy thinking of his wonderful form which defeated the minds of the sages. He had a dark body like a cloud which was pleasing to the eyes, he was holding his special weapons in all four arms, he was wearing divine ornaments and a garland of flowers, he had big eyes. In this way, the ocean of beauty and the God who killed the demon Khar appeared. With the mere arrival of Ram, the entire atmosphere became excited, Ayodhya became joyful and a wave of change ran in nature. According to Agastya Samhita, on the Navami day of Chaitra Shukla Paksha, when the Sun was sitting on Aries in Punarvasu Nakshatra, Cancer ascendant with the auspicious aspect of other five planets, then Lord Shri Ram was actually born from the womb of Mother Kaushalya. Ram means Raman. The doer, the one who gives happiness to everyone. It is clearly written in the Mahapuranas about the appearance of Ram and the changes that took place after his arrival on earth.
Reason for celebrating Ram Navami?
Lord Shri Ram, born in Tretayuga, was the eldest son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan were brothers of Ram. Lord Rama’s mother was Kaushalya and Shesha was the son of Sumitra and Kaikeyi. Lord Ram was married to Sita, daughter of Mithila king Raja Janak. According to the scriptures, Lord Ram’s real name was “Dasaratha Raghav”. This was the name given at the time of birth. Shri Ram’s childhood name was “Ramchandra”. Vishnu incarnation named Ram is also known by other names. He is called Ramchandra, Sundar, Chandrama, Dashrathi, or Raghava. Lord Ram was born in Chaitra Navami which is celebrated as Ram Navami in India.
Everyone wants to have a son like Ram, that is why even today, when a child is born in a Sanatan home, Ram or Om is written on the tongue by dipping a silver or gold shalaka in honey. With the belief that the ideals of Ram will permeate the children, dignity will reside in them, like an ideal son, brother, friend, and king of the people. Even today Ram Rajya is imagined. In the joy of this auspicious day, Shri Ram Janmotsav is celebrated in temples at various places at 12 noon, Prasad is distributed and the entire atmosphere becomes sacred with the sound of conch shell. Ram, born in the Ikshvaku dynasty, became famous among the people by the name of Maryada Purushottam Ram. He is the one who controls the mind, is radiant, patient and has great senses. Since childhood, Lakshman ji had love for the feet of Ram ji. And both brothers Bharat and Shatrughan developed the kind of love that is praised for a master and a servant. Although all the four sons are the abode of modesty, beauty and virtue, but Shri Ramchandraji is the ocean of happiness the most. Shri Ram used to do very beautiful pastimes in his childhood. He received all the education from his Guru in a short period of time during his childhood and completely followed the human life. We should learn from his life. Shri Ram attained supreme glory by killing demons like Tadka, Marich and Subahu in his childhood itself.
What activities did Lord Ram do?
The childhood pastimes of the Lord are innumerable and there is immense joy in describing them. Once, Mother Kaushalya bathed Shri Ramchandraji and after applying make-up, he put him to sleep on the cradle. Then she took a bath to worship the presiding deity of her clan, performed the puja, offered offerings and went to the place where the kitchen was set up. Then the mother returned to the place of worship and on reaching there saw her son eating food. The mother got scared and went to her son and saw the child sleeping there. Then saw that the same son was eating there. His heart started trembling. She started thinking that here and there she saw two children. Is this an illusion of my intellect or is there some other special reason? Seeing the nervous mother, Lord Shri Ramchandraji laughed with a sweet smile and then he showed the mother his unbroken and wonderful form, in each pore of which crores of universes were present. Mother’s body became thrilled, no words came out of her mouth. Then he closed his eyes and bowed his head at the feet of Ramchandraji. Seeing the mother surprised, Shri Ramji again took the form of a child and gave happiness to the residents. Kaushalyaji would sometimes rock him in her lap and sometimes put him in the cradle and rock him. Ram was very fond of Rajbhog and that too was made by the hands of Mata Kaikai. Mata Kaikai sent Ram to exile. It was Ram’s trick to kill the demons. But mother Kaikeyi loved Ram the most.
How did Ram introduce himself to Ravana in his childhood?
One day Lord Shri Ram was bathing in the Saryu river with his brothers and friends. At the same time, a demon sent by Ravana swallowed him in the form of a crocodile. The Lord killed him and came out of his body. All the migrants were happy to hear this. At the same time, Ravana came in the form of a bird and tried to kill Shri Ram by ambushing him. Shri Ram shot him with an arrow without fur, due to which he fell into Lanka and became unconscious. When he woke up from unconsciousness after seven days, he realized the glory of Shri Ram and felt very ashamed in his heart.
One day a hunter brought a wonderful bird. He showed it to the king. Shri Ram blew it away. The hunter said that I want the same bird. Hearing this, Shri Ram buried his feather in the earth and a tree immediately grew from it. Fruits started growing in it and when they burst, birds came out and started flying. They started sitting in palaces and running with children. The migrants also reared those birds. The kings of India and abroad also took them to their countries after hearing about the amazingness of these birds.
One day a lion ran and caught a Brahmin’s cow. Then Shri Ram shot him with five sacred arrows. As soon as those arrows hit, he became a beautiful Gandharva. After getting his form he told that, I was a Gandharva. I had ridiculed Naradji. Got this body due to his curse. My sorrows vanished after seeing you. Saying this, he bowed his head to Shri Ram and went to his world.
How did Ram start flying kites on Makar Sankranti?
Once Shri Ram was flying a kite. Flying that kite reached Indralok. The wife of Indra’s son Jayant saw this wonderful kite and thought that the one whose kite was so beautiful, how beautiful would he himself be. Thinking this, he caught the kite. Shri Ram sent Hanuman to see who has caught my kite. Hanumanji went and saw and asked Jayant’s wife to release the kite. The woman said that she wanted to see the person to whom this kite belonged. Hanuman ji told this to the Lord. Shri Ram said that go and tell him that he will have darshan of us in Chitrakoot. When Hanumanji told this to him, he left the kite.
Was Hanuman ji with Ram since childhood?
One day a monkey came to the palace. He entertained the audience by making the monkey dance at the gate of King Dasharatha’s palace and went away with the prize. Lord Shri Ram in child form stubbornly decided that he wanted a monkey. His father listed the names of things from all over the world and said that we will get them ordered. But childish stubbornness is childish stubbornness. Then Vashishtha ji said that Sugriva, who lives in Kishkindha, has a monkey. Let’s order it. The king sent a messenger and requested Sugriva to send the monkeys to Ayodhya. Sugriva happily agreed and sent Hanuman ji. Seeing him, Lord Shri Ram hugged him to his heart. Shri Ram used to keep that monkey i.e. Hanumanji with him in his child form. Hanumanji had also taken a small form.
Tulsidas ji has portrayed Shri Ram as an ideal man, who contains all kinds of virtues. He was blessed with qualities like compassion, kindness, forgiveness, truth, justice, virtue, courage, patience, and leadership. He was an ideal son, brother, husband, king, and friend. An ideal brother for Bharat, a master for Hanuman, a policy-skilled and just-loving king for the people, a best friend of Sugriva and Kevat and a personality who took the army along. Lord Rama is recognized as. Because of these qualities, he is worshiped as Maryada Purushottam Ram. He ruled by following the path of dignity, compassion, mercy, truth, morality and religion. For this reason he is also called an ideal man and Maryada Purushottam. Lord Ram had many qualities, which every person must have. Lord Shri Ram has the special quality of extreme tolerance and patience. And he did not discriminate between humans. Old or young, king or beggar, he had the same thoughts towards everyone. There is no one who can match him in courage, bravery and all other qualities. Ram Katha teaches us that like Ram, we should fully respect the feelings of our parents and teachers. We get courage and intelligence from the character of Ram. One gets inspiration to face every difficulty.
