Why is the worship of Maa Kalratri called the night of accomplishments?

The seventh day of Navratri is of Maa Kalratri. Maa Kalratri is worshiped on the seventh day of Navratri. Meaning of the name Maa Kalratri in which Kaal means death and Ratri means night. The name of this Mother Goddess literally means destroyer of darkness. It is believed that Maa Kalratri is considered equal to Goddess Parvati, who is worshiped not only in Satvik but also in Tamasic worship, hence this day has more importance than all the days of Navratri. Kaalratri Maa is said to be the most fierce goddess but despite being fierce, Kaalratri Maa is very loving and soft hearted. It is believed that the night of Saptami is called the night of accomplishments. On this day, Maa Kalratri is worshiped with rituals. Maa Kalratri is the 7th form of Goddess Durga. It also destroys evil and evil forces.

It is believed that by worshiping Kalratri, the person gets freedom from every kind of fear along with happiness and prosperity. Maa Kalratri is worshiped to destroy evil and get rid of diseases. It is said that the person who worships him gets cured of all his diseases and gets victory over his enemies. Along with this, planetary obstacles and fear also go away. Besides, all kinds of problems like ghosts, untimely death, disease, grief etc. also end. According to religious beliefs, Maa Kalratri was born from the head of Maa Chandi. Maa Kalratri was born to kill giant demons like Chand, Munda and Raktabeej. Mother Chandi was born to kill demons like Shumbha and Nishumbha. Mother Kalratri was able to kill huge demons like Chand and Mund but she wanted to kill Raktabeej first. But it was difficult for them. Raktabeej had received the boon of Lord Brahma that if even a single drop of blood falls on the earth, many demons can be born from that blood. Then Mother Kalratri started drinking Raktabeej’s blood while killing him. Due to the fierce battle, all the demons were killed and Mother Kalratri was finally able to kill Raktabeej also. According to Devi Bhagwat Purana, Goddess Kalratri caught hold of Chand Mund’s hair in the battle and separated his head from the body with a sword. The goddess brought the head of Chand Mund and said to Goddess Kaushiki, I have cut the heads of these two animals named Chand Mund and placed them at your feet. Now in the war you yourself kill Shumbha and Nishumbha. The Goddess was pleased and told Kalratri that, because of killing Chand Mud, from today onwards the devotees will also call you by the name of Chamunda Devi. That is why Goddess Kalratri is also called Chamunda Devi. Demons and negative powers get scared after seeing this fearsome form of Mata Kalratri. But Mother Kalratri is going to show utmost compassion to the devotees. Due to being accessible and loving to the devotees, Mata has also been called Shubhankari.

Goddess Kalratri is considered to have authority over Pingla Nadi. This goddess is the one who bestows all the achievements. By practicing them, the ability to see the future develops. Fear is destroyed from the mind. Goddess Kalratri provides enjoyment and salvation to her devotees. On the seventh day of Navratri, she is worshiped keeping this form of Mother in mind. This name of the goddess is due to her appearance. In this form, the complexion of the mother is black like kajal. And fire comes out from her breath. She is wearing a rosary of Vidyut around her neck. Her hair is open and the mother is holding her head in one hand due to which blood is dripping. He has three eyes which are round like the universe and fire rains from his eyes. The story is that after seeing Shumbha-Nishumbha and his army, the goddess got very angry and their complexion turned dark. Goddess Kalratri appeared from this dark form. Maa Kaalratri’s vehicle is Gardabha i.e. donkey. They are said to destroy demonic powers. It is believed that by worshiping Maa Kalratri, the doors of all the siddhis of the universe open up and all the demonic powers get scared and go away just by chanting her name. Therefore, the person who is blessed by Mother Kalratri becomes free from every kind of fear. Goddess Kalratri has four arms. With the upper right arm, the Mother grants boons to the devotees and with the lower right arm, the Mother grants abhaya, while in the left hands the Mother holds a sword and a thorny pestle. At some places, a sword and a bowl are also said to be in the hands of the mother. Mata Kalratri’s hair is open and a garland of electricity adorns her neck, due to the shine of which it appears as if lightning is flashing. In anger, fire burns from the mother’s nostrils.

Kheer should be offered to the Goddess on the seventh day of Navratri. Seasonal fruits can also be offered to the Mother Goddess. Khichdi should be offered to the Mother Goddess in the evening. By worshiping Goddess Kalratri, the fear of untimely death goes away. Therefore, on the seventh day of Navratri, Goddess Kalratri should be worshiped as per the rituals and her mantras should be chanted. Worshiping Mother Kalratri protects from the troubles in life. Worship of Maa Kalratri is considered very auspicious to control enemies and opponents. By worshiping them, fear, accidents, stress, diseases and evil powers are destroyed and there is no impact of negative energy. According to astrology, worshiping him to control the planet Saturn gives supernatural results. It is believed that Mother Kalratri controls the highest chakra Sahastrar of the devotee and this chakra makes the devotee extremely satvik and takes him to divinity. There is no mantra for this chakra. Ghosts, ghosts, demons and all the demonic powers run away just by the name and remembrance of Maa Kalratri.

This is the reason why the night of Saptami is called the night of “Siddhis”, on this day the eyes of Adishakti open and the door of Mother Goddess opens for the devotees. For this reason, eyes are donated to Maa Kalratri on this day in Tamasic activities and Tantric sadhana.
