What is the glory of peacock feather in the scriptures?

Lord Shri Krishna always wears a peacock feather on his crown. For this reason he is also known as Peacock Crowned. In all the images of Shri Krishna, peacock feathers and a crown adorn his forehead. It is said that Lord Krishna is very fond of peacock feathers.

According to mythological belief, Mother Sita felt very thirsty during her exile. Shri Ram was present there, he looked around. But they could not see water far and wide. This is because there was only forest all around. After this he prayed like nature, O God! Show directions to wherever there is water nearby. After which a peacock arrives there. He told Shri Ram the way to get water. He said that the reservoir is close by but there is a possibility of mistake on the way. Lord Shri Ram asked that peacock – Why are you saying this? Then the peacock replied that he would go flying and in that order he would go spreading his feathers. With the help of which Lord Shri Ram will reach that reservoir, whereas it is believed that peacock feathers fall only at a particular time. It is said that if a peacock sheds its feathers as per its wish, it dies. Same thing happened with the peacock which showed the path to Lord Shri Ram. When the peacock was in its last stages, he started thinking in his mind that he had the good fortune to quench the thirst of the God who quenches the thirst of this world, hence his life became blessed. He had no wishes left. After this, Lord Shri Ram told the peacock that the debt you have owed me by spreading your wings and sacrificing your life, I will definitely repay this debt in the next life. It is believed that when Shri Ram took the incarnation of Shri Krishna in his next birth, he wore a peacock feather on his head. In this way Lord Shri Ram repaid the debt of the peacock.

According to the scriptures, Shri Krishna is one of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu who wore a peacock crown. According to a legend, when Kanha and Radha were dancing, a peacock feather fell on the ground. Shri Krishna picked up that peacock feather and wore it on his crown. When Radha asked Shri Krishna the reason for this, he said, in the dance of these peacocks he can see Radha’s love. Lord Shri Krishna’s life was not the same. There were many colors and different emotions of happiness and sorrow in his life. Just as peacock feathers contain many colours, similarly many colors were present in the life of the Lord too. Peacock feathers are also a message that life is very colourful. But if you look at it with a sad heart, you will find life colorless and if you look at it happily, you will see only colors in life like peacock feathers. Peacock is considered a sacred bird, that is why Lord Shri Krishna keeps its feather on his head. Are. It is believed that Mother Yashoda used to put peacock feathers on Lord Krishna to protect him from the evil eye. According to another mythological story, a sage had told Mother Yashoda that her son was prone to snakebite. He may face danger from snakes in his life. To prevent this, he asked Mother Yashoda to put peacock feathers on the head of Shri Krishna. That’s why Mother Yashoda used to put peacock feathers on the head of Shri Krishna. There is enmity between peacock and snake. This is the reason why it is advised to keep peacock feathers with you in Kalsarpa Yoga.

In Sanatan Dharma, keeping peacock feathers in the house is considered very auspicious. According to Vaastu Shastra, placing peacock feathers in the temple of the house removes Vaastu defects. Due to this, not only all the people in the family become healthy but the financial condition of the house also improves. Peacock feather is considered a symbol of prosperity. According to beliefs, if a person has peacock feathers in his house, then there is no influence of negative powers. According to Buddhism, peacock opens all its feathers, hence its feathers are considered a symbol of openness in thoughts and beliefs. . It is also very dear to the gods and goddesses. There is a popular story behind Shri Krishna wearing peacock feathers that peacock is the only bird which remains celibate throughout its life. It is said that a female peacock conceives by drinking the tears of a male peacock. In this way, Shri Krishna adorns the feather of such a sacred bird on his forehead. When Shri Krishna lived in Nandgaon, he used to go to the forest to graze cows along with other cowherds. At that time peacocks used to spread their wings and dance around them. Since then, Shri Krishna ji became attached to the feathers of cows and peacocks.
