Since Ekadashi was born under the influence of Lord Vishnu’s Maya, those who observe Ekadashi fast are freed from the troubles of illusion and move towards salvation.

In Dwaparayug, Lord Shri Krishna had also told the Pandavas the importance of fasting on Ekadashi. It is said that once Yudhishthir asked Lord Krishna, O Madhav, please tell me such a path by which one can get freedom from all the sorrows and threefold heat, get the virtuous results like performing the rituals of thousands of yagyas and get freedom from this cycle of birth and death. . Then Shri Krishna advised Pandavas to observe Ekadashi fast properly. There is great importance in observing Ekadashi fast. Besides, the rules of all religions are also different. Especially according to Hindu religion, a person who wishes to observe Ekadashi fast should follow some mandatory rules from the day of Dashami. Offering food to Brahmins on this day brings virtue. Ekadashi comes twice in a month, Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha. In this way there are 24 Ekadashis in a year.

People observing Ekadashi fast have to follow some important rules from the day before Dashami i.e. Ekadashi. From the day of Dashami, devotees should not consume food items like meat, fish, onion, lentils and honey. By speaking too much, even the words that cannot be uttered come out of the mouth. On this day, one should donate as per one’s capacity. But never accept food etc. given by someone. On the day of Ekadashi, a fasting person should not consume carrots, turnips, cabbage, spinach, etc. Consume nectar fruits like banana, mango, grapes, almonds, pistachios etc. Every thing should be accepted by offering it to the Lord and leaving Tulsi leaves behind. On the day of Dwadashi, sweets and Dakshina should be given to Brahmins. One should speak sweet words without getting angry.

On the day of Ekadashi the earth is in a special state. If we keep our body light and available that day, our awareness will turn inward. There is a high possibility of the inner door opening on this day. If your stomach is full, you are lethargic and not aware, you will not be able to pay attention to it. So, to remain alert, alert and also to keep the body pure, you remain without eating on that day. That is, you had eaten food the previous night and now you will eat only on the night of Ekadashi. If you fast forcibly without adequately preparing your body and mind, you will only harm your body. It is said that this fast can liberate you from the cycle of birth and death. A total of 24 Ekadashi fasts are observed in a year. Every month, one Ekadashi fast is observed in Shukla Paksha and one in Krishna Paksha. The names and importance of all Ekadashis are also different. Usually, when someone has to observe Ekadashi fast, he starts this fast from Ekadashi of any Shukla Paksha. But in reality Ekadashi fast should be started from Utpanna Ekadashi.
