To defeat Jalandhar, Lord Krishna took the form of Jalandhar and came to break Tulsi’s chastity. As soon as Tulsi’s chastity was broken, Lord Vishnu defeated Jalandhar in the war. Jalandhar is killed in the war. Lord Vishnu grants Tulsi a boon that she will be worshiped along with him.
What should be done on this Ekadashi?
On the day of Devuthani Gyaras, one should wake up early in Brahma Muhurta and take bath. On this day, the door of the house should be cleaned with water, then a Deva should be made with lime and ochre. Then a sugarcane pavilion should be decorated on top of it. After that the deities should be established. While worshiping Lord Vishnu, one should keep jaggery, cotton, roli, akshat, rice and flowers. In the worship, one should sing the song ‘Utho Dev Baitho Dev’ while lighting a lamp to celebrate the rising of God. Avoid consuming rice on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi. Refrain from. By eating rice on this day, a person takes birth in the form of a reptile. Therefore avoid consuming rice. What is the Parana method of Devuthani Gyaras? Parana means breaking the fast. Perform Parana only after the end of Dwadashi Tithi. Not performing Parana on Dwadashi is like a crime. Wait for Hari Vasara to end before breaking the fast. The first quarter of Dwadashi Tithi is called Hari Vasara. Since the Parana of the fast does not happen in Hari Vasar, the fasting person has to wait for it to end before Parana. Avoid breaking the fast during midday. The time to break the fast is in the morning. If due to some reason you are not able to break the fast in the morning, then break the fast after noon.
