The moral qualities of man are the adornment of the entire humanity. The meaning of moral life is to live according to the policy. This is possible only when a person frees himself from his ego, selfishness and unnecessary fear and practices his life. Any person is judged on the criteria of right and wrong. These criteria are called values and these values are called his religion. That is, the meaning of religion is to behave according to one’s own mind. This conduct is his moral values and he is judged on this criteria. The moral qualities of a man affect all his activities and his entire personality is affected by it.
A person’s education and his surrounding environment leave a deep impact on his life. A person should receive such education which not only develops him intellectually but also arouses curiosity in him. Curiosity motivates a person to search for truth and leads him to enlightenment. He performs his duties according to his conscience. Swami Vivekananda says that any work for which a person’s conscience forbids him should never be done. Only a person who leads a moral life can become a role model for others and such people do not achieve success, rather success achieves them. Morality also leads to progress of the society and the nation and the person who turns away from morality is certain to be in trouble for himself and his society. Due to lack of moral values, dissatisfaction spreads in the society and crimes take place. On the contrary, the person who has etiquette, morality, discipline and dignity in his life will have peace in his family and country. The great philosopher Confucius says that if your character is good then there will be peace in your family. If there is peace in your family then there will be peace in the society. If there is peace in the society then there will be peace in the nation. Every person should give up his ego and selfishness and give place to qualities like honesty, humility, sacrifice, charity in his life. Only then can we create an ideal family and realize the dream of an ideal and happy nation.
If we can help others we should do so. But if we cannot help, then at least we should avoid harming others. This is the essence of living a moral life. There is a motivation behind any work. If we harm someone, we do it with some motivation. And if we help someone, it is also due to some inspiration. For that we need to understand some facts. Why do we help and not harm others? For example, when we want to harm someone, a kind of consciousness arises within us that prevents us from doing so. This means that there should be some kind of determination within us so that we do not cause harm. One part of our mind wants to harm someone, but because of the specific state of mind, another part of our mind says that this is wrong, this is not right. Because we see that it is wrong, we develop a will power within ourselves and are able to stop ourselves. In both the options, whether to cause harm or to avoid doing so, there should be an awareness within us. As humans, we have the wisdom to see long-term consequences. And when we see them, we can immediately stop ourselves.
Here we can choose two types of paths. In the first way, we think about our own interest and then if we can help someone then we do so and if we cannot help then we stop ourselves from causing harm. The second way is to think about the welfare of others and if we can help then do so and if not then stop ourselves from doing harm. In the context of harming others, the thought that if I do so, I will suffer negative consequences, including legal consequences. In fact, you have to stop yourself for your own good. Now taking our reason for thinking about others, we will think that others are exactly like me. They also avoid pain and suffering, so I will restrain myself from harming them.
When we train our minds to think first about our own interests and then strongly about others. In terms of being effective, it is more effective to think strongly about others. Generally, we humans are social creatures. Whoever he may be, his life depends on other people of the human community. Since the life and well-being of an individual depends on the entire society, it is our basic nature to think about and be concerned about the well-being of others. Living an ethical life personally means that we do not harm others and help them if possible. In doing so, if we make the well-being of others the basis of our morality, then it will become a comprehensive view of morality. We should keep these facts in mind in our lifestyle.
Life is given to us as a gift by God. We get life from God, but how we live life and how we make life beautiful, it all depends on us. And how we live life as per our wish. We call it life as we live. If we want, we can make life good or bad, it is in everyone’s hands. Whatever life we live, according to our deeds, in which life we will get the next birth. It is based on that.
Therefore always develop moral qualities in yourself. It is very important to make your life successful, if not for others. Just as the fragrance of blooming flowers spreads all around, similarly the impression of a person full of moral qualities spreads far and wide.
