There is a very slight difference between faith and devotion. Sometimes it seems that both have mixed together like milk and water in such a way that it is difficult to recognize them separately. It is said that reverence is towards the best and devotion towards the adored, but if seen, despite the subtle difference between the two, there is a lot of disparity in terms of meaning and sentiment. Faith is due to faith whereas devotion is based on logic. Faith arises in our mind spontaneously. Once we have true faith in a person, his merits and demerits do not matter, even his behavioral changes cannot reduce our faith. One has faith and devotion towards the Guru, but towards the deity. Only devotion remains for the person. If faith is tied to discipline, then devotion keeps sacrificing itself with determination and dedication. In devotion, the river of respect flows, while in devotion, the ocean of love keeps flowing. This is the basic difference between the two. Faith remains stable and devotion keeps wavering. Modesty is there in both, but the feeling of devotion keeps weaving the web of argument and debate, while devotion remains completely devoted to its worshipper, without reviewing his feelings etc., and keeps pouring himself on him.

The scriptures also say that God is hungry for feelings. In fact, just as water drops remain attached to clouds, in the same way devotion is also a form of devotion. When seen from outside, it looks like a cloud and when touched, drops start falling. Here devotion has the upper hand only because love is also associated with it. Love is such an element of the world which cannot be compared with anything. On the call of this love, God appears and through human incarnation, solves the sufferings of religion, earth, cows and people. This love is a form of devotion. The creeper of devotion reaches its beloved only by climbing the thread of love. This thread of love takes the devotee to the pinnacle of devotion. Here faith only works to strengthen devotion, that is why it is said that faith and devotion complement each other.

What is the meaning of devotion?

Devotion means connecting one’s inner self with God. The tendency to connect is devotion. Getting involved in worldly relationships is not devotion. Bhakti means complete dedication. In simple words we say that our soul is tied to the thread of God. Only a true seeker who is sincerely dedicated to God is a devotee. When a person moves away from worldly matters and controls his ambitions, only then does his consciousness vibrate and divine devotion begins to be realized in the contemplation of God. There was devotion to Meera, devotion to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Buddha, Nanak and Mahavir. When everyone goes to sleep at night and even at that time, the one who cries out to find the Supreme Father, then understand that he is a true devotee. Devotee is truly synonymous with happiness and joy. When your wish or prayer is fulfilled, then understand that this is devotion. The devotee is the only one who remembers God from his heart, then even the Supreme Father subordinates himself to him.

The first step to enter the spiritual world is faith. The literal meaning of faith is to trust someone with respect. When we believe in Guru, God, parents, we have faith in them. When we are freed from the bondage of logic and sophistry, we attain a spiritual knowledge, in which we learn to move forward with faith to attain that spiritual knowledge. Unwavering belief that devotion can be achieved only through dedication and faith is very important in attaining God because on the path of devotion only this faith makes you devoted to God.

What is devotion?

Devotion is not done with hands and feet. Otherwise, the handicapped poet Surdas ji would never have been able to do it. Bhakti is neither done through eyes, nor is devotion done by speaking or listening, otherwise the deaf and dumb would never have been able to do it. Nor is devotion based on wealth and power, otherwise the poor and weak would never be able to do it. Bhakti is done only by feelings, devotion is a feeling, which comes from the heart into the thoughts. And our love turns into a relationship by connecting with God. It goes. Devotion is a sweet imagination, which unites us from within with our God. The depth of devotion is like an ocean whose depth no one can know. Just as there are many precious gems hidden in the ocean, similarly there is depth in devotion too. No one can know how much precious thing is hidden, only the one who has true devotion can know it.

What is faith?

We have to use faith to believe what we cannot see. Like we believe in God but we have never seen God. It is only with the existence of faith that impossible things become possible. Faith itself means that we believe in something that we have never seen. But the hope of having that thing in our mind leads us to believe in that thing. Which can be done by remaining completely positive. Confidence is an aspect of positivity. The two cannot be separated from each other. Where there is positivity there is faith and where there is faith there is positivity. Confidence can be won only by keeping your mind positive. To believe in anything, first of all we have to admit that we do not know anything and surrender ourselves completely. Faith has so much power that it can move a mountain from its place. Even things that seem impossible can be easily achieved with the power of belief. Do you know that man has got a blessing that whatever he wishes or desires with faith, he will easily get that thing.
