Only when a person’s foundation is very stable can he do many things. Happiness in life can dissipate only when there is complete stability in it. Otherwise, too much happiness can lead a person to madness. That is why many people, who are a little creative, a little active and cheerful, end up becoming abnormal and almost crazy. Because without stability there cannot be joy in life, the restless mind has to be pulled from worldly matters and kept stable in a way. This will have to be done again and again. Control your mind through your willpower and meditate on the glory of God. The most direct way to control the mind is to sit quietly. Leave the mind for some time to go wherever it wants to go. You keep thinking with full determination, ‘I am a spectator, a witness, sitting watching the rise and fall of the mind. I am not the mind!’ After this look at your mind. Think, you are completely different from the mind. Think of yourself as one with God. Do not identify yourself with any inanimate object or mind. Imagine – as if the mind is a calm lake spread out in front of you. The thoughts that arise in the mind and are becoming blurred are like bubbles rising in a lake and coming to the surface and merging. Don’t try to control your thoughts. Just keep watching him through the eyes of imagination like a spectator, how he is drifting away. Just like when a lump is thrown in a pond, waves arise very quickly at first, after that the larger the circumference of the wave becomes, the fewer the waves come, if the mind is left in the same manner, the larger will be the circumference of its thoughts, in the mind Thoughts will arise less. But we want to overturn this system. First of all, we will start from a big circle of thought and then make it smaller and bring the mind to a point, then we will have to keep it stable there. Awaken this feeling, ‘I am not the mind.’ I am watching. I am thinking. I am observing the activity of my mind. By practicing in this way, the feeling of unity of the mind with oneself will decrease day by day. Ultimately you will be able to completely separate yourself from the mind and understand exactly that the mind is separate from you.
When this is done, then the mind will be your slave, which you will be able to control as per your wish. The first stage of being a Yogi is to go beyond one’s senses and when the mind is conquered, understand that the seeker has reached the highest level. Stay alone as much as possible. It is better if the seat should not be too high. First laying Kush-Aasan, then deer skin, then silk or cloth cloth. It is better not to have anything to lean on, overall the posture should be firm.
Empty your mind by giving up all kinds of thoughts. As soon as any thought arises in your mind, remove it immediately. To do this we must rise beyond inanimate objects and our bodies. In fact, man’s entire life is a continuous effort to reach this state. Our best ideal is God. Take care of them only. We are not able to know the knower, because he is our own form. We create evil ourselves because we see evil. What is within us is what we see outside. This world is like a mirror for us. This small body is a small mirror created by us, but in reality the whole world is our body. You will always have to keep this in mind, only then you will be able to understand – we cannot die or hurt anyone, because the one we hurt is also us. We neither have birth nor death. Our duty is only to continue loving everyone.
Life is not always the same. Only by accepting change can we overcome our frustrations and disappointments and with the passage of time can we make our lives happy. A rich man suffered a huge loss in his business. He started feeling that his life was filled with complete darkness. Thoughts of suicide arose in his mind. As he was about to jump into the river, someone caught him from behind. He was a traveller. The person who was trying to commit suicide started crying bitterly, ‘Why did you save me, it is better to die than to live like this.’ After listening to the whole story of that person, the traveler said, ‘Do you believe that earlier you were happy?’ The person said, ‘Yes, there was only light in my life, but now there is nothing left except darkness.’ The traveler said, ‘Don’t you know that after day comes night and after night comes day?’ The person said- ‘Everyone knows this. If you knew then why were you committing suicide? When you accepted a happy life, why don’t you accept an unhappy life now? Whereas you know that after this night the day will come again. Change is the law of nature. Whenever we start refusing to accept this law of nature, we become sad and surrounded by depression. We have to accept that when good days do not last, bad days will not last either.
The person who knows this truth never becomes disappointed. His active life comes out stronger. Only accepting change can make us dynamic. We are moving along with such a train of time, in which stopping means going backward. We can truly enjoy the journey of life only when we move with the times, leave the old stations (rooted customs and old concepts) and adopt new stations (innovation according to the times). Change is eternal. Any object, subject and idea changes with time. Seasons change. Human conditions change. Progressive change over time is called development. If we shy away from change, we will not be able to progress. From a scientific point of view, there is no substance in the world which remains stable. There is always some change taking place in it. Similarly, change takes place in society also. Sociologist MacIver says that society is changeable. If we want to maintain continuity in the society, then we will have to leave the status quo and make our conduct and behavior change-oriented. Only then is our progress possible. On the contrary, if we do not accept change, we become conservative. Like stagnant water, which is certain to rot. Conservative people are unable to accept the auspicious changes like women’s freedom, equal rights, women’s education etc. and keep on burning themselves by feeling sad inside.
