Are the seven vows of seven rounds of Hindu marriage minor?

According to Hindu religion, the marriage ceremony is completed only after seven rounds. In seven rounds, seven promises are taken from both the bride and groom. These seven rounds bind the relationship between husband and wife for seven births. Under the Hindu marriage ceremony, the bride and groom take the fire as a witness and go around it and take a vow to live a happy life together as husband and wife and in this process both of them take seven rounds, which is also called Saptapadi. And these seven rounds or verses are taken with seven words. Every round has a promise, which the husband and wife promise to keep throughout their lives. These seven rounds are the main pillars of stability of Hindu marriage. In other religions, marriage is a kind of contract between husband and wife which can be broken in special circumstances, but Hindu marriage is a contract between husband and wife by birth. There is a relation between births which cannot be broken under any circumstances.

After marriage, the girl takes seven vows before sitting on the left side of the groom. But today’s youth take marriage as just an event. If someone tries to understand these seven words then there will never be any conflict in his life. Marriage is not just an alliance but a union of two souls. And in that both should consider each other equal. That is why only these seven words are asked to be followed in Hindu religion. In a Hindu wedding, before taking the rounds, the bride has to sit on the left side of the groom, only then the rounds start. And before the wedding, the girl formally puts forward her proposal. The seven promises that the girl takes from the groom are as follows.

In the first verse, the girl says to the groom that if you ever go on a pilgrimage, then take me along with you. If you do any fasting or any other religious work, then like today, please give me a place on your left side. If you accept this then I accept to come to your request.

Second promise: The bride asks the groom for the second promise that just as you respect your parents, respect my parents in the same way. And if I remain a devotee of God while performing religious rituals as per the dignity of the family, then I will accept your I accept coming to Vamang,or left side.

third verse

In the third verse, the girl says that you promise me that you will follow me in all three stages of life (youth, maturity, old age), only then I am ready to come to your wish.

Fourth verse, Virgo: Fourth verse demands that till now you were completely free from the worries of family. Now that you are going to get married, the responsibility of fulfilling all the needs of the family in future lies on your shoulders. Only if you promise to bear this burden, I am ready to come to your request. After marriage, sufficient money is required for the maintenance of the family. It is clear from this verse that the son should be married only when he stands on his own feet and starts earning a sufficient amount of money.

Fifth verse, what the girl says in this verse is of utmost importance in today’s context. She says that if you seek my advice while spending money on household work, marriage etc., transactions or anything else, then I will accept your wish.

Sixth verse: The girl says that if I am sitting among my friends or other women, then you will not insult me there in front of everyone for any reason. Only if you keep yourself away from gambling or any other kind of addiction, I will accept your request.

Seventh promise: As the last promise, the girl asks for this boon that you will treat other women like mothers and will not make anyone else a partner in the mutual love between husband and wife. Only if you give me this promise, I will accept to come to your request.

In today’s times, people get married as per the rituals, but being blinded by the western culture, they have forgotten the dignity of marriage. In Hindu society, marriage is a sacred bond, not a game. How can anyone torture a girl by marrying her after obeying so many promises? That is why women sometimes have to assume the form of Maa Durga.
